RIP RUSS!
Had a chance to talk via the forum, and had him offer up some parts when I got my project underway! Great guy, huge heart! He will be missed! |

| I'll be headed back home in a few days, trailer in tow. Will be bringing back parts if anyone needs anything. Mom's wanting to sell the house and clear out the shop, so pretty much everything must go. I figured I'll drag what I can back out to socal. |

just an update:
Marilyn Wolfe has sold the house, shop and property and is having an auction on the remainder of Russ's inventory:
http://www.auctionzip.com/cgi-bin/auctionview.cgi?lid=1566961&kwd=&zip=50125&category=0
all the cars, parts, tools and manuals go....
as far as I know, there will be more inventory posted on that site, there will be no online bidding, and there may be phone bidding on items.... _________________

This will be a triple win.
1) The buyers get some hard to find parts at a good price.
2) Marylin gets some needed cash.
3) Russ smiles that his parts are going to be used again. _________________ Glenn

Just an update on what's happening.
The auction will be held on October 20th, starting at 10:30 AM. Please be
patient as more info becomes available... _www.auctionzip.com_ ( http://www.auctionzip.com )
There will be phone bidding for those who would like to bid on something. You'll need to call the day before however, so you can get a bidding number. If you see something that you'd like to bid on (after viewing the web site pictures, more of which will be loaded in the next week), you can let him know, and he'll give you a call when that/those item(s) comes up for bidding. There will be 2 to 3 lines available for bidding IF you choose to bid.
Also, the "blue totes" can/will be broken up before they will be sold off as complete totes. This means IF you only want 1 or 2 items out of a tote, you can bid on them seperately. After that, the entire "blue tote" will be auctioned off. The totes will be made up mostly all of 1 item, such as coils, or mirrors for example. This is directly from the Auctioneer, as I wanted to try and get as much info as possible for you. The best thing you can do, is check the website (listed above) often, as pictures will be loaded almost daily, especially next week, as the day of the auction draws near. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Made the trek nearly 600 miles round trip in one day, plus stayed till auction was over. Lots of bargains seemed like people would take an item from a tote they would auction that off for a fare price than the remainder of tote was sold for pennies on the dollar. If you knew your parts you could get what you needed for cheap cheap cheap. example engine cases some short blocks for just a few bucks a piece. If you got the bid for a tote for three dollars and there were ten totes you had the option of taking them all at three buck per tote. Tools went cheap. Picked up three type 4 cases for one or two dollars a piece. Rabbit NOS VW OEM radiator five dollars and on and on.
I met Marlyin nice lady seemed happy as to how things went.

At least it didn't all go to the crusher. 50%+ of it will be for sale again on The Samba. How much did the split window panel bus go for? _________________ http://s169.photobucket.com/albums/u236/mr_bojangles500/

I think under a hundred. I could be mistaken as was gathering up engine cases when the vehicles were sold split van was in tough shape top to bottem even heavy rust through above the windshield.
As for going to scrappers it could be at the prices bought a few crank shafts for a buck a piece I think good as they were sprayed with a anti rust film. Things that bought the most money were upolstery kits if memory serves me.
I have the wood grain kit for 411/412 if anyone is interested.

I talked to her after the auction was done. She was pretty tired that day, but was happy everything sold. She didn't have a total from it at the time I talked to her, but at least it's all sold off (even the downstairs "office" chair Russ used was sold). The auctioneer was bringing in a dumpster to finish cleaning up the scrap metal and such that was laying around the property. Never got any real feedback on the deals, but figured most of the stuff went to Nebraska, as those guys were there to buy. I had a feeling things would go cheap, but I also knew I didn't have a big enough truck to haul away the deals.
Yes Dave, Tram's 412 has flames painted on it, but that was because of the PO, not Tram's doing. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
