detailed pics so we can see what you've got.

Take the left sunroof bits away, those are 2 fold. Then take several pics showing the parts on the right. Also take pics of the hole in the roof.

Looks like you're missing the short sections of rail that fit at the rear of each longer section of rail.

I don't have the parts list but here is the schematic for the 3 fold roof. This should help you discern what you are missing and how what you have goes back together. I've also got the 3 fold installation instructions scanned into my computer. If you PM me your email I can send it along to you.

They both look like 2 Fold Headers.. Look at the guide rollers on the side.. My 3 Fold came with the leather guides instead of rollers.. It might be right though.. Depending on when your 55 was built.. Remember 55 is the special year.. All kinds of shit was going on..

Actually, MODEL YEAR 1956 was the exciting year! Model year 1955 was simply the last of the 3 folds.

If only that were true. Its a pain in the ass to do a '55 correctly it seems. Too much confusion on whats right and wrong depending on where your '55 was delivered. I'm still gathering correct parts for mine. Thank god Wolfparts is making aprons, heater channel parts and rear crossmembers and Gerson is making correct floor pans and fenders for us and now user "virtanen" is making correct ribbed door replacement bottoms, carpet rings, engine side trays and running boards!!!

now i have looked at the other 3 fold i have. it is different and i see what is missing. the other one has guide blocks and not rollers. the one with rollers is attached to a canvas that is for a three fold. the front header also has square corners and the other parts are correct for a 3 fold. i just wonder if maybe the switched to rollers and non ribbed handle late in 55. anybody have any thoughts?

If you're missing parts or need to refresh the blocks you can buy replacements here:

You didnt believe me when I responded to your thread.. 55 had alot of changes.. If Im right, there was a point where either the front header was square and the rear was rounded.. or vise versa.. Theres a few changes.. I think you have a 2 Fold header and top.. I know you purchased a three fold, but if your 55 is suppose to have a 2 fold, due to the date it was built (56) than Im not sure if that 3 fold is going to fit as the 3 folds gaping hole on top is larger then the 2 fold.... JMO..

Hi,

In 1956 there were 3 sunroof styles.

In August 1955 at chassis # 1 0929 746 the 3 fold 4 square cornered sunroof was replaced with a newer two fold roof.
The front corners were rounded and the rear corners were square.

In November 1955 at chassis # 1 024 647 The mechanism changed but the rounded front and square rears were also on this version. This new mechanism did not retrofit into the earlier roof.

In May 1956 at chassis # 1 181 041 the sunroof had multiple changes made to it, the most visible was 4 rounded corners. This continued to the end of the 1963 USA version and much longer on European versions.

I think there's some confusing info between the back & forth here...

Then your car is definitely a Year of Manufacture 1955 that came with a Three fold ragtop.

Three Folds were for all YoM Years - Jul 31, 1955.

'55 had their quirks and yes, depending on where the car was delivered it would change the tail lights & possibly exclude semis/include bullets.

- I believe you're thinking of Year Model '56
- All YoM '55's have Three Folds! His car was built June of '55.

Yepp - Aug 1, 1955 = Year Model 1956 which got the newer Two Fold Ragtop.

both my cars are june 55 and are both factory 3 folds not 2 fold. the one car has never been apart and it has blocks for guides and no rollers. the other car was apart and was taken apart 30 years ago. it came with 2 top assemblies. one is a 2 fold top but the other one must have been the one from the car. it is at least a 3 fold canvass on it. and the parts are right for a 3 fold except some of the parts are missing i assume removed to take ragtop out and misplaced. the front header in this top has rollers instead of blocks and doesnt have a ribbed handle like the other car. but has been working on a 3 fold top for sure due to the old weathered canvas. my question is does anyone know if they changed headers late in the 55 production? car with block guides is 901xxx and the other car is 904xxx
