Is there still a Monterey Aircooled group? I tried emailing the address I dug up, but it was bounced back.
Trying to find a good mechanic for my 75 Microbus, and someone to help me figure out how to change the fuel lines, and was hoping there'd be some Monterey (California) aircooled owners that may be able to send me in the right direction. _________________ 1975 Microbus |

Hey Rune I know that you are in Monterey and I am down south . But the local cetral coast events will be getting underway soon. I know its a little bit of a drive but thats what a car is fo,r so maybe come down to Meet In The Middle on April 10th. There will be others from your area here as well. The Club thing around here is real spread out. Good Luck |

Unfortunately I have work that weekend. I work in the theatre, and we have a matinee performance that day (meaning unless I want to be fired and not paid, I have to be there). If not I'd pack up a dog and hit the road, no question! _________________ 1975 Microbus |

Hi Rune,
You may have already found your answer but just in case...
I live in Salinas and I just did a search for this yesterday because I started a restore project ('69 beetle convertble) and came acrosss the group below. I have never met anyone in it nor have they "approved" the post I put up yesterday, but I'm sure it is just a matter of time.

To answer your question, the only place I know of is M&M auto in seaside, and just because they have a giant sign outside that says "we work on air cooled VWs"
Can't you do the work yourself? I know they have service manuals at the library you could borrow to figure it out.
Good luck. |

You can try Just Andy in Sand City. Used to be a pretty good family owned business. I have not been in Monterey in quite a while but I know that Just Andy is still there. I would not go to Bradford's in Seaside. _________________ Never drive faster than your Angel can fly

Since I have not been able to infiltrate the VW air cooled group without knowing their secret handshake, what do you say we start our own group? That way we can share this kind of information on a regular basis.
Anyone used meetup.com? |

Hey guys. I'm also from salinas but have moved up to the Bay Area. I have a broken down 70 bay window with a $3k moter in it from M & M note it's broken down. After 2 rebuilds and numerous months he still didn't get it right and when I went back the shop was closed. Hope you didn't go there at least not for a big job. If you're looking for a good mechanic id go to Bob Hayes in sand city google his web site and go chat it up with him he's knows his stuff that's who I'm saving up for. I'm down to meet up/ start a group |
