HELP REQUEST ........... does anyone have any pictures they can post of what it is suppose to look like underneath the metal backside of the dash. Where the windshield wipers sit/mount. The previous owner took it appart and I'm trying to figure it out?? I did a search for images but only came up with this one. I just need to see where everything connects, sits and mounts?
Any help will greatly appreciated.
This is the only image I found but not close enough to see.

Yea Johnny, I own a baywindow. A '79 deluxe Westy. I've had it since I was 18. Don't tell any of our splitty friends, its just our little secret, alright?
There's some wiper / dash pics here:

It is a later bus, but same concept. |

The three springs and one screw are missing from the one in pic. The springs go under the plastic part and push it away from the steering wheel hub and the horn button snaps into the cup piece. I would take a pic but it only shows up a tiny thumbnail on TS. |

Merci beaucoup mon ami. I finally figured it out. The horn works perfectly now. The only thing not working on the bus is the fuel gage. When I filled the gas tank it started to read, but it was jumping all around!!?? Don't know if that's due to a bad ground?? or the actually sending unit is no good? |

On a different note, I made my maiden voyage this past weekend to the Joshua Tree National Park. The bus drove great with one minor fix. This truly is an awesome vehicle for camping trips.
I posted more pictures in my blog ( http://barndoormafia.skynetblogs.be/ ) but here are a few.

Indeed ground clearance. In the future I will be heading into terrain where a lowered ride wouldn't be able to get to. This bus rides really smooth. Big difference to a split window bus. |

How do you know!?
In all honesty, I got the best in both worlds. I still have my BD's and I got probably the most desired camper, 1971 Westfalia. When peeps slam me for having my bay I give them my normal response which is to praise this bus for what it is ........ then I end it with "I also have BD's at home".
These Campers have everything you need to go on an adventure. Very practical, and such a smooth ride. Not like BD's. |
