Hi Stephane,

The adjustable front beam is narrowed 2 cm per side. I run dropped spindels, and CSP disk brakes. The wheels are 67 stock rims with 145/80 Firestones.
In the rear I have lowered the car about 2 cm, the wheels are widened stock rims (5,5 x 15 ET 20) with 185/80 Vredestein tires.
Cheers...

Just bought my 67 last week from the original owner, a little old lady!!! Been sitting either in a garage under a cover or in a carport covered as well. Been in Ct. its whole life, and owner said it was only out of Ct. once, to RI. NO rust!!!! 78k miles. Pans are perfect. Original paint. Needs to be buffed out. her husband reworked the engine to a 1641 w/ dual kadrons in the late 70's, drove it 2k miles and parked it. Been sitting since then. I have been searching for a Bug for awhile now and everything I went to see were rust buckets. Once I saw this one I knew the search was over. I've been building Muscle cars and Street rods for 30 years and and am looking forward to this car tremendously, the simplicity and low cost of parts will be very refreshing. hey guys! i'm really new (2 days) to the air cooled club... learning my way around, spending hours researching and studying all i can on this gem. i picked up a '67 beetle 1600dp. it's pretty much all original except for the engine obviously, only has one tiny little crease on one of the fenders. no dents, no broken glass, still original VW glass and roof rack. needs a lot of cosmetic work, though and some odds and ends, but runs great.

vin# 117331591 ruby red (which is funny, because i named her Ruby before i found out the color name)
manufactured 11/66
chattanooga, TN/north GA area
54,328 miles on the clock (not sure how right that is, or if it's 154, but yeah)

I just purchased my newest money sink--er, VW bug! I don't know the production date, nor location of make. It does say 'made in Germany' on the trunk plate, so it's something?

Chassis/plate serial number: 163436

Edit: woops, color! Lessee, I don't know the original one for a fact. I believe it use to be a seafoam greenish? Or maybe the beige? The interior is candy red, the outside deck lid is teal green, and the rest is a mix of white, Terra-cotta, and ruby red.

Lets just sum it up as red? It's most likely to end up a Ruby Red.

The plate on my 67 reads something like this
Type 11
Heizg. Typ 1/255 A Prutz ... S43
Fahrgest.-Nr. 117772360
Can anyone tell me what that means? This car has been in my family since 1977 and in my possession since 1997 but I have never looked into what these numbers mean.

67 ruby red- my grandfather bought it new in Pine Bluff Arkansas. My dad got it when grandpa died, and now it's mine. Seems a pretty normal bug except that it came new with cloth seats. When I worked on the interior years ago I was told they didn't come with cloth seats, but this one did. I saved some of the material when the seats were recovered, maybe I will find it some day.

Hey Ryan, the 117772360 is your VIN, probably got it from under the front hood behind the spare tire. It should match a number stamped under the rear seat onto the tunnel of the chassis...that is if the original body and chassis are together. Sounds quite likely since you can trace ownership way back, but that's where you confirm it, when the "Numbers Match". Take a pic and add it to the surviving 67 registry.

Hi, thought I would post details of my 67 beetle for the registry.
I don't know much at the minute but its a 1300sp, lotus white L282.
Needs a little work to get it back on the road and its bog standard.
I will take some picture of its current state.
chassis number:- 117 028 261

Mike here in Burien, WA - right off my reg papers: my 1967 is VIN 117 796 382 and model is 1502D. I'll hunt for an info plate. That should be behind the spare - right?

Somebody said earlier that the '67 Bug had no backup lights. My '67 has two backup lights wired through the backup switch on the transaxle with power coming off the #15 terminal on the coil. About a foot down the wire from the coil is a black bakelite capsule with a standard pink VW fuse. The lights and the wiring are both shown on the wiring diagram I found on this site titled: "Wiring Diagram VW 1500 Sedan and Convertible - US Version (from August 1966)" The diagram downloads as an 8-1/2 x 11 but I made a greatly enlarged copy on the big plotter at work before I retired - 24 x 35-1/4. It looks great on the wall of my home office. Next to it is a much smaller diagram of the 1965 sedan wiring - I had to rewire the directional circuitry because the "J" unit was missing. So, I knocked it back to 1965 specs using the "G" relay only and leaving out the hazard function.

The 67's had backup lights for sure. One of those 1 year onlies! They were mounted on the bumper supports. Great job on the wiring diagram though.

Thanks! Took me about a dozen tries to get it right. I'd make some selections in the print setup screen, send it off, run over to the plotter - and hit the "Abort plot" button if I saw it wasn't going to be what I wanted. I probably coulda made and sold dozens, but with my luck I'd get caught mis-using company property and get fired.

These have never been used. Look nice on my 67 Beetle. Problem is today's skis are much wider than the 1960's but still look period.
