There are two small metal boxed that mount to the rear bumper on the reverse light mount. Each box supports a pair of skis.[/quote]

I notice the twin pipes coming out from under - does anyone know if that muffler is fairly quiet? I ask because I installed the muffler shown at http://www2.cip1.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=C13-3418. I got it in a box along with a good alternator and several pieces of decent sheet metal - a good deal at $80 - or so I thought. It's really "boomy", however. It's bad enough on the street but when I start up under the carport it's awful. I think I'll replace it with one of my used OEM units.

Thanks for keeping the registry alive!

Cool

Quick note in about 8 months I will be heading back to a sub so I will be still updating the reg, but there will be times where it looks like I'm gone for awhile. I'll update the reg everytime I hit port though. So keep them coming.

Thank you, Compdrag, for updating when you can. Do you also archive pictures? I can send some but my '67 bug is "unimproved" - would the best word for it. I have fiberglassed in a new battery tray and replaced most of the package tray with fiberglass. I haven't gone with the available metal replacements because they're expensive and I'd have to pay someone for a proper welding job, my welding skills being nil. I'm going to have to pay for work in and around the lower passenger door hinge - there's some internal rot there and something is getting in the way of my connecting the heater hose. I'm not interested in a 100% restoration, but I would like everything in the car to work and look decent. Thanks again.

So - post the VIN here, along with anything else on any plates inside the various interior spaces. A pic would certainly be helpful.

I have an old set of these with leather straps instead of the rubber one. Plan on putting them on something someday. They even came with a set of old wooden skis too

I'm old enough to remember skiing on wood in the middle 50s. One of my long-time friends remembers learning on a wooden surfboard...!

I figured this would be the place to ask. A friend sold his red '67 back in '98 in Atlanta. Anyone got a line on something that meets these specs? It had suffered front and rear (both I believe) damage that he had repaired. Please PM me if you think you may know of something. I have pics to compare. Thanks.

Hi, I think Compdrag might be "away" right now but, I would like to add my wife's '67 to the registry. VIN 117428318 currently dressed as Herbie. I bought it to replace her '70, that she got just before we were married 25 years ago. I totalled that car last year. For the next quarter century she wants to drive a copy of her very first car; a Savannah Beige '67. Well, insurance didn't pay so we've done this one on a tight budget. It was originally the color she wants so, eventually, it will be again. In the meantime the gumballs and stripes (added by the P.O.) hide some major paint flaws and draw your eye away from others. They also get alot of attention on their own.

Thanks for keeping the registry alive!

I would like to say again that I will get to the registry when I can. Being in the military limits my ability to update it some times. That being said if you are rude to me is not going to make me move any faster. It is just going to piss me off, and I won't add you. I apperciate the understanding of my absence. Thank you for all the thank yous sometimes not enough people say it.

Keep the registry alive, and keep the numbers coming. When I took over I think we were in the high 200s now we are almost a quarter of the way into the 300s.

If you hit a show, and see 67s ask them if they have added themselves if not get their info and send it my way!

Thanks again!

Hello from germany.

My name is michael and i'm new here in this forum.
My english language is not perfect, so excuse my mistakes.

I bought my 67 convertibe in 1987 from a car wrecking place to safe this vw for the next generation.

I spend a lot of time money and work in this car.
Some parts are left: the windows ( completely ) the seats, the roof, and the engine doesn't run.
In 6 month i restored the vw, the car gets a new paint, new seats, new windows an a new roof.
Because i can restored this car in the garage of my father, he had a lot of tools an he welding this car perfekt with original frame parts.

I travel till 1988 with my vw convertible across complete europe and in the future i planing a trip to great britain.

Till 1987 i had a lot of fun with this vw and my son ( 9 years old ) is a little vw-specialist, he knows how the engine work, the camshaft, sparkplugs, muffler, careburators, you can ask him everywhere, he knows the answer.

I send you the best wishes from germany.

michael

Hello,

excuse me, i wrote a couple of mistakes in my post.

I mean not "till"1988 i travel with my vw across europe, i mean "from" 1988.
And i mean i have a lot of fun from 1987 with my vw convertible.

sorry.
