windshield wiper switch?

So can I use a general purpose on off on switchto operate my wipers? How do the wipers know to wipe return wipe return? Thanks

I used an on/off/on that i got at radio shack. Just a cheepo.

Not if you want it to self park or have two speeds.

The motor just turns in a circle. A connecting arm changes the rotary motion to reciprocating.

If you''re asking how it knows where to stop, there's a breaker cam in the motor.

You can use a on/off switch and relay to get a single speed wiper with auto park.

Actually you can but you will only have single speed wipers.

Connect the "park" circuit on the wiper motor to ign switch "acc" circuit (hot when key is on) & connect the wiper "run" circuit through your on/off switch.
