This just goes to show, when it comes to finding vintage VW...you guys are on top of things, you bring searching to a whole new level, talk about climbing the ladder to success...you have taught us that when searching for that special car don't get discouraged, keep your head up! .... (I'm sorry Embarassed ...don't beat me )

if you remember , the package deal with the Lithuanian trade also included an early 43 kdf. so this might be the third early car found? nice!

What would the double pulley be from? Schwimmwagen?

That would be my guess too.

If the first digit on the engine number is a 7, it is a Schwimmwagen engine. A 2 would be Kubelwagen.

If it does turn out to be a 7 Schwimmer engine, how long will it be before an orange Schwimmer is found there?

He Undis, is it a coincidence that this one goes public right after the VW38 was finished or do they have another one lined up after this one? This could go on for ages! Great! Very Happy

Ok, the obvious question not asked yet: How did they get it up/down from there?

A crane I'd assume. Any pics of that?

I have no pictures of the lifting exercise, but my guess is they must have used a truck mounted crane. Simple, quick and budget friendly.

Awesome, I can't believe there was another one out there.

I'm sure there are more. The '38 was in plain sight in someones back yard and this one was on top of a roof. The people who found them were in the right place at the right time. What is interesting is all the possible finds that are hidden away in barns out in the countryside or garages in the suburbs. Those are the hard ones to find as they are not easily spotted. I'm sure that people now will keep their eyes peeled and an ear to the ground and take the art of KdF hunting to a higher level.

What a great find. I hope we are at the beginning of another 190 page resto like the VW38. I think I might like this one better as the 38 was so far gone it was hard for me to imagine restoring it. Be sure to save the fenders. Who knows, we may be looking at the birth of the Latvia Look Very Happy
