Steve- (and everyone else)
JUNE 17th (Fathers Day always)
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=493601
Terryville show

Possibly June 23?
Not sure when July 4th will be celebrated (its mid week / Leap year)
June 30th?
July 7?
Thinking June 23 - BUT VERY Tentative.
Any thoughts?
Maybe go back to a Saturday 4pm meet up at The Place and see who shows air-cooled or otherwise. Possibly try again this in 2012 after the 1st meet up?
Not sure where John is but Hoping is gonna jump in again soon.

August 12th = Terryville VW Show, ref: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=498673

Still leaning towards 30th of JUNE.

I will be at the place on JUNE 23rd for a family thing so I can do some recon and check it out again. As well as ask the guys there if they care about us bringing in buses / VWs and if there is an overnight option or not.Thats only a week prior to the actual date though.

Anyway Steve feel free to swing by on the 23rd but I won't be bus-ing it there.

You can PM me if you like too.

stay tuned

I'm still unsure of a good Saturday.

The 23rd totally slipped my radar screen, sneakyjack--though I was tied up with non-car stuff all thru this weekend. But, again, sorry I never touched base back with you. That's great to hear how accommodating the owners are--and you can't argue with Wal Mart's welcome policy either--nor their directly-across-the-street location. I will continue to do my best to monitor this thread, and hopefully will be able to swing by whenever an actual gathering may take place.

Might actually try getting over there this coming week, for a non-car-related social dinner with friends in the evening. I've never eaten there--looking forward to the experience. Looked at their web site and they're BYOB too, which is also cool...

We went there last night with another couple. Got there about 7-ish with our big cooler full of cold ones. Ordered a number of different dishes that we ended up sharing: roasted clams with sauce, plain clams, blue fish, mussels, veggie ka-bob, and roasted corn on the cobs for everyone. It was really awesome! Friendly crowd, friendly wait staff. And not buggy. The other couple we ate with brought a big container of take-out cole slaw from another local-area seafood place (Lenny & Joe's in Madison), which worked out great also. Relaxed dinner & conversation, ended up leaving around 9-ish.

Summertime doesn't get much better than that.

Also of note: The other couple drove an air cooled VW Convertible, and my better half also drove her air cooled VW Convertible (I arrives separately in my beater '96 Passat). And then also in the parking lot we saw a '60s Ford Convertible, and a really nice late '60s or early '70s Chevy Pickup. So, kinda cool from a car perspective also.

Two thumbs up all around for The Place.

Had to stop at Wal-Mart in Guilford for some supplies recently, and found myself parked across from none other than "The Place!"

The date was Saturday afternoon, August 25, 2012, and the car was the Creeky '69 Bug, ref: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=525003

I guess it was still pretty early in the afternoon at the time of these photos, and The Place hadn't really "spooled up" for the usually very busy summer scene. Have to get over there again before the season ends for some more great seafood...

Yup the time is getting short yet again on this. Life keeps getting in the way!
The Place is great go there without your VW if you have to!

That said still trying for a 2012 meetup.

"Christmas Tree Mode" at The Place today (Sunday, December 9, 2012), I guess you might say!

I had to stop at Wal-Mart across the street to pick up some toys for a local toy drive going on in Branford (http://branford.patch.com/events/the-2nd-annual-christmas-caddy) and happily had my camera along to record this scene, with the '70 Bug...
