We considered several awnings when looking, and we settled on an 8' Fiamma F45S for the following reasons - no drilling into van, durable, lightweight, asthetics, has two tracks to hang accessories (screens/shades, lights etc) and most importantly, easy, easy, easy - one person can set it up by themselves in under a minute. This is particularly nice for pulling off the side of the road for a quick lunch on hot days. The ease of setup means we use it a lot, so that made the price worthwhile for us.

I wanted a Fiamma but cant swing the funds quite yet so I opted for the Bus Depot EZY Awning Plus for the time being. I havent set it up yet but will do so soon and see how it goes.

I do like how the EZY Awning is 11ft long versus the shorter Fiamma... I think I will really like that added length on the awning.

Even checked out the Aleko amazon awnings but they were sold out when i wanted to buy... they do offer an 11.5 ft fiamma knock off and i woulda loved that just not sure how well one that length would mount on the vanagon.

I got a TexSport dining canopy on clearance for $20 at K-mart and attach it to the rain gutters using the Bus Depot EZ Awning clamps & caribiners. It's nice on a calm day, but is useless in any sort of wind.

I ordered extra Busdepot clamps and was disappointed they didnt include the rubber protective liners on the clamps like what came with the actual ezy awning and was pictured in the description.

Rhino-liner, got the idea from the samples the local trailer shop has on the counter..
The result is really good, really tuff, non slip, non marking.

UPDATE

I emailed BusDepot and explained they should update their website to show that the extra clamps do not come with the rubber pieces like whats shown in their photos.

A Representative called me personally a couple of days later and apologized for the mistake and they sent me the rubber liners for the spare clamps that match what came with the EZY Awning FREE of charge.

Great Customer Service indeed...

Good deal.

I was going to suggest dipping in this stuff before I saw your update.

Where do people purchase the ARB Awnings from? I'm exploring other awning options.

Thanks

So I finally have an attached awning. It's a combo of an Apollo Norseman case with new Sunbrella fabric and poles and front channel from a hard top bag awning(don't ask how I acquired all of this) It works really well EXCEPT for the rain gutter drip. I know someone had a solution for this...I think it was a piece of vinyl attached somehow. Can anyone help me with that?

Well I've since upgraded to a Fiamma Awning from my Bus Depot awning because I needed something I could deploy quickly and easily since I'll be taking some long road trips that will require camping in different locations daily.

I chose the 11'-6" Fiamma F45s Awning.. Chris from Van-Cafe.com ordered it for me and got it all taken care of...

The 11'6" Fiamma looks incredible
I wish I saw this photo back in January when I was shopping for an awning.

Thanks! I've only seen one or two others with an 11'6 fiamma awning so I figured I'd give it a try and see. I bought a 4th bracket which I modified to mount above the passenger door for added support. I need to take a few pics of it since it's not in this photo

I posted this separately because I didn't see this thread.

Anyway, walking around K-Mart earlier today I saw they had a 9 x 9 awning on sale for $30.00.
At best it might last the summer for that price! It's not a fancy roll out, but it is the same height as my rain gutter.
I bought one really just to get the fabric thinking I can make a better set-up if I have time.

Definitely... I'll post pics this afternoon...

I had a fabricator that built my support base for my Aluminess Galley Box take and modify the 4th bracket for me. I stopped by his shop and after a few test fitments I had my 4th gowesty bracket chopped up and rewelded in order to fit perfectly above the passenger door. took him 15 minutes tops. very impressive

this is the support base he made me...
