OK so we've seen this in every other forum so far: a thread about a Deluxe Splitbus, Split Beetle or 356 pulled from a pond or lake and a dubious restoration attempted on it. With all the half-dead barndoors being pulled out of the woods and resurrected, it's probably only a matter of time before some nut finds one underwater and pulls it out. You know that if you happened to spot one somehow, you'd get it out, right? Here's the only relevant picture I could find
