|
|
Hey there, Just picked up a set of what I thought were Weber 40's for my stock 1600, with new linkage, air filters, stacks, and manifolds for $100 bucks. But when I brought them home i read the casting on the bottom and it reads 44 idf 38 3k. That would lead me to believe these are actually 44s right? I measure the throats of each carb and they measure 44mm.
My question is with 44s I know I will have to change out the jets and Venturis. What size would you go with and how do I measure the venturis that are in there now? I measured them the same way as the carbs and it measured over 40mm. I tore down the carbs, and took all the jets out needles, float, etc. It's got F11 emulsion tubes,155 mains from what I can see, 52 idles I think? I just need a point in the right direction. I know a shop near me that carrys hundreds of jets that can hook me up. i just want a ball park setting for my needs.
1600 Dual port, pertronix everything, header, glasspack. |

You would be better off trying to find someone that has a set of 40's that wants 44's and trade, they are just too big for a stocker _________________ Aust. RHD 66 Type 1

Are they just too much carb regardless? I figured I only spent $100 for the purchase, I'll spend 28 on each carb for a rebuild, plus some parts cleaner, 70 bucks for 28 mm venturis, and about 30 bucks on re jetting. Will they just guzzle up gas even if they are re jetted? |

That sucks. I was hoping they would work out. I don't want to deal with drivability issues as she's my daily driver otherwise I'd try em out just because. Looks like it's back to the drawing board. I'll probably just clean them up real nice and sell em for a couple hundred. |

just try them first and see,,the jets sound close enough to work,,smaller venturis will speed up the air through the butterfles to compensate for the larger cfm,, _________________ you had better brace yourself for whats on the other side,,evel knevil |

Lol ^ I still need clarification on the venturi sizes though. I see on CB performance the venturis only go up to 38mm. So I must be measuring the venturis wrong. The 44 IDF's came stock with 32mm right? |

I have fortys that are good and rebuilt, what is the overall condidtion of your 44s? My new motor could use more fuel.... I could be interested in a trade. |
