Ok.. chopped tops are kewl.. ... but looking out the windshield of them with stock height seats... suck.. period..

I know.... not exactly...true to era and form.. but hot damn they are so much better.. Wink

I didnt want to cut down a pair of stock seat frames... Embarassed I still have 2 cars waiting in the wings that will need seats eventually.

Miata high backs.. mounted low...

Love em in our Buggy, so figured why not.. plus I have 1 more spare set Laughing

I do seem to "feel" the car more in my bones though... engine vibrations, transaxle gears, gear drive starter.. roads...

I can now plant my bald head firmly back for the... launch.. and long drives.

Maybe Ill sew up some Stray Cat Leapoard print covers for them .. Cool

Just a quick update.... Not much to really tell... I need to drop my main carb jest back down a little....thats pending...

I swapped out the clutch cable arm for a long arm from Bruce...
It went from feeling like the cable was a sponge that was going to break at any time...to Ahhhhhhhh.....
Feels like a stock VW clutch now... and the cogs row so much easier...

Been driving it in the rain alot...... Easy to slide it around and even dirt track it....that's drifting to you young kids... Wink

Good times..

Saturday.. A quick stop to a local car show to visit my neighbors mainly.
One just finishing up a 57 Nomad... wow!!! His first event with it.
The other with her sharp n quik blue buggy from a few pages back..

I dont know....... Im really starting to avoid the typical DAY car shows...
This one was to be a night time show 4-8...thats not night????
Around here its still daylight and in the 90's and humidity is verocious.

I like shows...well cruise ins at night..cooler, old small downtown setting..lights, neon....GOOD music...
Very few and far between to find..

C'mon fall....

Any way.. we took Operation X and scared a few people.... Laughing

We were heading out anyway to a local Baseball game to watch my Mother dance in between innings... she left her.shoes... Mad no dancing for her....... so had a few beers and a shitty pretzel... before we left at the bottom of the 4th.. .

Of course.... my red hot DD Wink wife... was now at the wheel.....
A late dinner and a drive down our old cruising route...
Sad to see much of the youth today is not participating in that old cruising ritual. Maybe its the police... or the new distractions..

Not stopping us...

Nice. I miss cruisin. Around here, there are about 4 cruise ins on the weekends but it is the same cars and trucks for the last 5+ years. We just like to hop in mine and go.

Come on over to Pigeon Forge during a rod run. A lot of traffic but a lot of nice rides up and down the strip.

Then we started going to the James Dean run in Indiana..

Well done Applause I am a huge fan of Vrods & you have nailed it well. My collection of parts for my rod build is done, just need the donor car. I had a thought for your rear to front to rear exhaust. Run it through the tunnel. Use the heavy gauge tube flange the ends & bolt on your pipes. It is an idea I came up with in the middle of the night. Could also be a heat source on those cool nights. Great build.

Yeah aware of all that, I drove a buddies 72 vette big block, header side pipes, you could only drive it with the windows down, the exhaust was terrible & that was outside the car.
