You can use the stock shocks for the rear with no problem at two splines but you should use shorter shocks in the front. If you were to only use drop spindles, there would be no need for shorter shocks since the shock mount distance does not change. However, the distance does change with adjusters and you may bottom out your shocks on bumps. Good luck to you. |

got the pan terned back over today so i gave it a skim over with filler just to get rid or any dings and dents. then sanded it down. wet and dry. it then had a final coat of zinc 182 and two coats of hammered hammerite. ill give it a week to dry off now and then rebiuld it

Great car. I like it. Rust seems pretty typical - a bit of work and it will be beautiful. I'd say don't do the volksrod (although I don't mind them, I try to picture myself still driving one when I'm 50!) Stock always looks right to me. _________________ 1957 Oval Window Canadian Standard beetle

Your engine has a 36hp backing plate, later 36hp generator and a later 36hp generator pulley _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)

Hmm, the last of the 36ers stopped in August of 1960. So that engine is really off of what should have been in there stock, I think it was supposed to be the 1500cc in 1967 thru 1968 and then changed over to the 1600cc single port in 1969..I think.. _________________ PNW Dub Folk & Kitsap dub Folk (KdF)
