İ have just discovered the world of VW's at the age of 48--i had a camper van back in the early 80s but it wasnt really a hobby like now!
İ am in İzmir on the lovely aegian coast. i have just bought my first bug but i am unsure of my luck!!--its a totally original 1973 1303s GSR. İt has done 61000 kms and has all the original trim and steering wheel-even down to vw floor well mats. İt came to Ankara in Turkey from germany back in 1976 and has obviously been well cared for-i am the 3rd owner and the weather here is just like calfornia so hopefully i can maintain its condition.
İ dont speak Turkish and know no one in the VW community here--bugs arent revered here but i believe there are clubs in the country-i joined samba to find out more about the world!! |

Hello there, im originally from United Kingdom, but now live in Finland, so know how you feel being away from your mother tongue home. I do not speak Finnish, but my wife helps with what I need.
I too have just started getting back into Bugs, and I'm 41, still looking for the right one. I used to have a 1303s back in 1986, and always wanted another one, but being young, and stupid, all I wanted back them was something fast, but now I appreciate the bugs more.
Looking for an Oval, or Zwitter. There are a few surprises in barns here, but its the travel to get there which is causing me problems right now.
Oh, and incidentally, I worked, and lived in Turkey for a couple of years, 99-2001. I was there for the big Quake in 99. Sad times. |

Hi de1amo
Plenty of English on this site to keep you in contact with blighty, by the way your bug is a rare model & I'm sure the beetle forum would be interested in photos of it -I am interested & I have a ghia !
