Lind and I talked about putting The Duraclean back together, but the chassis we wanted ended up getting crushed. I know the roof clip and decklid are on the West coast. I hope it happens. _________________ ---

Without some sort of a massive jig or at the very least a spare Barndoor to take all the measurements from, I don't see how it'll ever be straight again. You'll have a lot of trouble getting all the gaps even, due to how much everything will shift when it's Frankensteined back together. You would really have to know what you're doing but yes, it can be brought back to life. _________________ Check my classifieds for kewl gauges:

if you can get the roof and have or know the chassis number it is completely feasable. obviously the more og bits you can get the better but those two things would make or break it IMHO.
i couldn't do it myself but i'm sure to the right person it would just take time. look at the kempes and the fieldcart threads.
in a way this might be a little easier as i'm sure if you threw enough cash his way gerson could ship you a complete chassis with nose, floors, dog legs, front bulk head/door jamb and poss the rear bulkhead already fitted.
after that it's a 6 or 7 piece jigsaw. with a few bits to bolt on. (it sounds easy when you say it fast ) |

Very cool Bus - put it back together. Get a frech chassis from Gerson and off you go..
BTW: That ad for the lid.... One thousand dollars for a pair of reflectors....that has to be the craziest of the crazy, in terms of pricing. |

If the roof is on the west coast, is it located in Newman Lake?

| I dont see any signs of the air horn and the og roof had decent paint. This bus looks like a og paint with no sign of being cliped. |

| ^^^Almost for certain Eric's from Newman lake is clipped some way or another. Whether it is a BD sunroof? Only "other" BD sunroof standard I know about and he posted the whereabouts of the OG engine lid and roof? |

Not only can that live again but you've got a whole year to put it back together and drive it out to next year's OCTO Barndoor Gathering!
I have to be honest when I say that seeing that Bus chopped up years ago was one of the biggest Barndoor tragedies I've ever witnessed. Now you absolutely have the opportunity to redeem yourself by putting it back together. I totally understand that perspectives clearly have changed tremendously over the years as to what a "good" Bus is but I didn't see much wrong with that Bus besides rusty rockers!
Do it to it Jim, make us proud! _________________ Please visit my website at http://www.holygrailgarage.com to see more interesting and collectible Vintage VWs and Parts for sale. Thanks.

Jim, don't you have the middle seat from it as well?
I believe Brian M. has the nose clip.
I believe the interior panels went into April.
The last time I saw the roof was when the greaser (I forget his name) from Bakersfield had it. It was not the same roof that longroofs used when he did his bus. |

it's a lot of money but when would you ever have the chance to buy a real set of reflectors and know the bus that they came off of? _________________ ﻥ ﺥﻡ‎
