|
|
So I've made quite thorough use of the search function but still have a question I can't figure out.
My paper/foil hoses that run from the heater channel up to the "Y" have deteriorated, so I want to replace them. I've measured, and they appear to have an inner diameter of 1.5" (38mm). I also plan on replacing the hoses that come out the top of the "Y", as they smell moldy, and from what I can tell, they have an inner diameter of 1.25" (32mm).
What I'm not sure of, is that my "Y" has 3 outlets at the top, and the one in the middle is not connected anywhere. Could someone point me in the right direction, or show me a picture of where this hose would connect to?
Here are pictures of what I am referring to:

Not for sure certain, but think the middle hose routes to the center dash vent. _________________ Be kind to all critters. America's "H8TERZ" can drink sludgy used Motor Oil!

one go's to the corner vent, one go's to the center vent, and one go's to the defroster box. _________________ 1302s sunroof..

Correct, the center smaller diameter goes to the center vent in the dash. _________________ *ASE Recertified Master Automotive Tech*

I wound up using only 2 of the 3, the center defrost and the corner defrost and plugged up the other both on the Y and the side of the plastic vent that connects up to the dash. I had really good defrost and great heat all last winter that way.
When set up to also use the dash vents I wound up with little heat from the dash and the defrost was so weak it was ridiculous. So much heat gets lost at the tentative connection between the plastic vents under the hood where they connect to the interior and spreading out the hot air 3 ways seems to be one way too many. But maybe I'm just full of hot air myself. |
