One place where we can all turn to.
Post pics of your car. List tire make/model/size. List wheel brand/size/backspace. List supension mods. List any issues with clearance, ride comfort, traction, etc. etc.
That way we don't have to ask, how would these tires work, or this size wheel, or will this or that fit, etc.
What do you guys think? |

I think this is a great freaking idea. it would be awesome if this works out and it gets turned into a sticky. a lot of people do ask about tire size. wheel size. if itll clear the torsion bar, etc. lets do this. _________________ "In case I don't see you, good afternoon , good evening, and goodnight."

This would make a great sticky. I too am trying to figure out tire size and such. I am using some late 60's 5 slot mags on my rail. Clearance isn't an issue. My problem is they are 7" wide 14" wheels. I want a semi skinny in front and a good 9" wide tire in back,off/on road. Any suggestions? _________________ I NEVER KNEW I KNOW SO LITTLE, TILL NOW.... |

Those tires look good on there, how wide are the rears? Got a pic from behind the car? What kind of wheels are those, I really like the five spoke look but havent seen them in 4 lug until now. |

Here's a pic of where my ride height is at now
The rear tires are 31x10.5 BFG KM2s. I'm running a short torsion tube so the tires don't hit. Stock size, boxed in trailing arms. Fox 2.0 Reservoirs on the back.
Front tires are 8-Ply BFG Silvertown Extra Tractions. 7.00 - 15 LT. Balljoint beam with adjusters maxed out. Running Bilstein balljoint shocks made for lifted beams. Makes for a rough ride, but handles great in the dirt.
Both front and back wheels are centerlines. And I think that's everything...

I have been hesitant to post mine for two reasons, one because its nothing special, especially when there are one's like Tyler's out here. TOTALLY cool beetle.
Second, because I don't know much about it, not sure what the previous owner did to it.
fronts are Firestone F-560 165R15 86T on stock wheels (15x4.5). sometimes they rub the trailing arms.
rears are Sand Grabber L60-15 on stock wheels widened to 10 inches, 4 inches backspace
havent seen any time in the sand so I can't say how they are.
It has cheapo coil overs, no idea if anything else has been done to the suspension.

Well, its no baja but I figured I would contribute.
Rear: 33x12.5x15 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's on 10 inch wide wheels
Front: 215/75/15 BFG Mud Terrain KM2's on 8 inch wide wheels
I have a short torsion bar so I still have plenty of room. |

absolutely beautiful buggy, gorgeous pictures too.
I don't think we should limit it to bajas. Buggies, rails, whatever. If it will help a fellow off roader out |

OK
Here 225/75/15's on my 74 Class 11 look a like, It has a 5/16" cut and turn in the front and the rear was indexed so Half the bottom rear bolt hole for the spring plate bushing cover, it also has double spring plates not that that matters.

Well Ill join as the first Rail Buggy
Rears:
Pro Comp Radial Xtreme A/T's
31×10.50 R15
Front
24x8 R17 Street tires
Stock Swing Arm Rear suspension/ stock linkpin front suspension
The rear tires cleared the torsion with a good bit of room. They rode pretty smooth, but didn't hook up that well in any type of mud, however they were pretty worn. _________________ My 4 Seater 1835cc Build page
