Hi,
This body style comes up for sale from time to time in Finland.
http://www.nettiauto.com/volkswagen/kupla/6665804
They are usually referred to as a "Desert Dog".
Whilst potentially a practical 4 seater with an interesting front, in my opinion the rear end is pretty ugly and doesn't really gel with the front. I'm curious to know if it has its origins in a better looking body?
Cheers,
cammie |

Any ideas who may have built this body? The dash looks like the one on the Allison Daytona Buggy Build. It has the block on the cowl that I read was used to remove it from the mold. The hood has the scoop that could have been added (Not sure though). No wire looms under the sides of the body. Any help would be appreciate any inputs. |

Very old pics.
Sears Rascal with an unusual dash layout?
Possibly a Lithia Springs buggy as I bought it nearby?

I looked through the DBA and could not find this body. I know I have seen them before based on the rear end.

Did you ever find out who made the body? I just picked up a red one with a roof. |

Going to give you 3 horrible pics.
Buddy of mine was doing some side work when he came across these in the back yard. First one is in rough shape, says he has all the pieces but rough. The second is a body that he claims despite how it looks, under the brush the body is actually in good shape.
Picture is horrible at best.... any idea what that thing is I am looking at? Says the guy will sell both with a couple of engines all for $300

The top one looks like a Sears Rascal.
The bottom one looks like a butchered Bradley GT with a baja engine cover sitting on the back. |

Looks similar to a Boss Bug, except the reverse scoops extend into the wiper arm boss area. They also have a woodgrain effect dash. |

A friend showed me this dune buggy pickup recently. It does not match any pickups in the DBA or others seen here...Any ideas on the maker and value?
He has a 1962 title, and it is fairly complete. Round taillights are dated 1966.
Thank you experts for your help! |
Kellison Sandpiper XP-1 possibly. |

What about this one...
You can't really tell but the hood is recessed a bit between two angles that run front to rear. Cruddy picture. |
Looks a lot like an imp to me except for the hood. Nice design imho. |

This isn't mine. Taken from an ad in Finland, where this body style often turns up. Does anyone recognize its origins? It's usually referred to as a "Desert Dog"
I don't mind the front, but feel the back end doesn't go with it and the transition between front and back looks a bit clumsy. |

That's a wildcat. I don't know much about them but I ran across a guy that had one.
And that basketball Hoop is a 1990 Sports Authority brand backboard.
but I'm assuming your asking about the Buggy Body. ha |

Thanks! I will investigate further.
The backboard looked like a surfboard when I first saw it. The NBA logo gave it away.
Thanks again!
Edit: After looking at pictures of the Wildcat buggy, I don't believe it to be the same. The headlights are set further back on the blue buggy and the ridge in the hood does not exist on the Wildcat.
Any more leads would be great! |

Looks to me like it could be a Kyote 1.
