For all my searching, I haven't seen another like mine. All I know is that is was built in British Columbia in 1970. Any ideas?

Hello,
I have searched thoroughly everywhere, including the DBA (which is an awesome resource, btw!) but cannot find any info on our particular body and we're hoping someone here may have one and/or recognize what it is. We've found fenders, or dashes, etc., etc., that are close but nothing the same. We've definitely haven't found anything with the smaller sized cutout for the plate. We bought this car in pieces and there were no taillights in it...just the irregular shaped holes where 4 lights should go. The only info I have on it is that I bought it in northern Indiana. Also the front shock tower dimples, that are moulded into the glass, appear to have been meant for the early style kingpin front beam, instead of the later style ball joint front beam that's in our car. The car came to us with a heavy, one piece fiberglass floor pan. Maybe an option from the body manufacturer back then? Also, if you look inside the tub, there are tabs in the corners, at the bottom. Anyone know what on earth those four tabs are for?? My guess is that they were used to "pop" the body out of the mold and someone forgot to trim them off maybe??...

So, any ideas?

The hood has the ridge, tucked license plate holder and the gas cap hole used to be in the left front corner (before PO filled the hole)

Top of fenders are flat and have headlight mounts in them.

I really like this style of dash. Pretty simple, really. Has the hole for the speedo and the old style square gas gauge. What are those tabs for down in the lower corners? One by the driver's left foot and one by the passenger's right foot.

The tail end is the biggest matchup that is troubling me. I've found nothing like this in my searches so far. All that I've found, either the tailight locations are off or the license plate cutout is larger/smaller..

Thanks! I was wondering if it may be a Sears Rascal. That was the closest match that I could find on DBA but the taillights threw me off. Now, to finish grinding out the ultra poor work that someone did in the past when they raped this tub and then glued it back together with bondo. Actually, I found bondo smeared over top of dry fiberglass matting material. Unfortunately, it was all hidden underneath charcoal colored paint. I didn't find it until after I purchased the whole mess and I started to fit the tub to the pan....Ugh!

An elderly man is selling this and didn't have a whole lot of info on it. My internet is down so it's hard to look through a bunch of pages on a smart phone on here to find more info. Hoping someone out there can help me out. Thanks

I do not know what the design is, but the body is a close Manx clone. Looks to have good bone's and would make a nice buggy.

I just bought this VW Dune Truck, it's a 1970 VW 1600cc, I'm looking to find out who made this body. Can anyone help me on this? I'm not sure what to call it so I'm calling it a VW Dune Truck, what would you call it? If you have any pictures or any info that can help me I would appreciate it.
Thanks

PostPosted: Wed May 13, 2015 3:54 pm    Post subject: I searched for ID and mfg, nothing found Inside/ under hood Reply with quote

I have searched all of the Buggy ID websites and have found nothing so far, I do check on ebay once every 2 weeks hoping for something that is just like it.
There is no wheel wells protruding into the interior rear seat area like most out there. The hood as you see is pointed in the front and the gas tank is molded into the main body, the opening is on the passenger side of the hood. The body is quite different than anything else I have seen out there( like many others in my situation, also (lol).
I could use some assistance or info if anyone has seen another one like it. It was purchased over 15 years ago when I lived on long island, ny. Some websites say where it was purchased is key, the former owner (ex employer was the owner) has no idea where it came from either. All pics are in my gallery, for those who wish to try to ID it. No such luck at other websites either.
Does anyone know of an updated wiring harness kit with the new style blade fuses at a reasonable cost? I was also wondering if anyone can recommend All Weather speakers, that if damp will not break if washed down or left outside overnight.(besides going to a marina and limited to what they have in stock)
I recently Installed a rebuilt 1966 transmission( came with the vehicle originally), doing the 200mm mods for the clutch and installing a 1970 1600cc motor recently acquired from another vw builder.

Ok I see that this one is a glitterbug sportsman pickup and my buggy is very similar but with curved fenders and a different hood. Still has the same bed setup with the engine cover.....

This has an 85" wheel base, the chassis is V-notched, cut and welded. the body tub is 59" long at the floor chassis. I am thinking to make the rear independent to gain more height. There are markings of rear tire rub under the fenders and it is possible the rear fiberglass body should have a frame to support it better with rear passengers in it. Has anyone else had that issue? Where can it be welded in/modified to do so? The exhaust came with the 1970 (1600cc) motor when swapped in and the trans modified to accept the 200mm flywheel and clutch. I did not swap over the split dual exhaust as of yet.

So, I picked this up a couple of days ago.
I've searched all over the web (Including Dunebuggy Archives),
but I can't identify it. I'd like to find out what it is so that I can
put a value on it and sell it. I already have two project buggies,
and I don't need another one.

Hi guys Back up to the gold buggy of empiracer, that's an Arabian. The strange green body has lines that only seem to make me think of the drawings in a fibercraft ad, perhaps it is of their design. 73 pinkbug, yours may be a Wrangler. Attourney Loophole that is definatly a BEE Crafts body, they copied a bunch of common bodies and added that teardrop in the hood. the last one here may be of Canadian manufacturer
