After a year's Hiatus, I'm starting in on another bus project. A 1952 type 24A. Standard Microbus, loading doors on the right, sunroof. I've got a thing for sunroof buses, and this is about as old as they come. There are only two others of this model that are earlier than this one known, according to Barndoor.dk
I'm shooting to have her ready for the major event at the 2012 Soto meet, in California. This one will be even more work than the last, the '54 25A.
As you can probably tell from the photo's she a South American beauty. I bought her from Gerson, after a visit to his facility in Bogota, columbia in 2010. It's had lots of years of hard miles put on her, and lots of "updating" and hundreds of repairs to the body and chassis.
As I first saw her in march of 2010. She was tucked in the corner of his shop, with stuff piled on the roof, but I got a pretty good idea of the overall condition.
Pulling her out and cleaning her up for shipping.

Some shots of the repaired sections
I'm planning on more of a custom restoration this time, in a color scheme like it was done in Colombia. Kind of a tribute to south American buses,.
The speedo won't need any cosmetic work, as it is already the right color scheme for the bus.

YO JF, Ken's talking about OCTO. It's easy to mistake SOTO and OCTO. Kinda like when that time you came over and Gibbs got Krunk'd out on Jarrito's & Mi Chelada's and kept calling you Chuck and referring to Linda as The Beard. Another example, people ALWAYS spell the ClassicS incorrectly. Very common mistakes.
Cool Beans on the ride Ken. It would be nice to see it at next years gathering eh. Hope Trevor has his ride rolling too? |

No, I am going to the SOTO meet. I've never heard of this Octo deal.
Did some cutting this week.
I don't understand what is going on with this frame. The whole center section has been replaced. And riveted on. The strange thing, it that it is really well done. The front section in front and above the beam has been plated over with very heavy gauge metal.
