Silly question here ... On a full flow engine setup, should I run the external oil filter AND leave the stock oil cooler in place? Not sure why I am having this Sr. moment, but I think somewhere I read something related. |

One cools the oil and the other filters the dirt out. They serve to different purposes. _________________ Glenn

Leave the stock cooler in place. _________________ Volkswagen: We tune what we drive.

Thanks ! Can sleep better now ! ... One more question regarding oil cooling. I will be installing a 2276cc on my bug. I am going to have a 1.5qt oil sump and the external oil filter. Would an oil cooler be a must for this engine? I do not plan on racing or anything like that ... temps here in the summer kind of take me out of driving it on hot days. Just wondering ... |

Likely not required.
Where are you going to put the oil temperature sender? |

There isn't much moving oil at the oil pressure sending location. A better location would be the sump or the oil pressure relief location. Someone correct me on that if it's wrong. _________________ 1969 Beetle
