Yeah... well...maybe...

passenger side drip rail, inner and outer lower nose, lower windshield, full front floor. Then some kind of rust inhibitor for inside the drop gate rails and T-chest doors. I also need a complete loom, headliner, windshield, wheel bearings, brak................Oh you get the picture. When this is done I'm keeping it in the living room.

Awesome work, long though it has taken! Razz

Only 200 welds??? Must have gone "factory like" as they spot welded at every other 2 or so ribs. I did mine on EVERY SINGLE one of'em! Just over 1000 welds, which of course meant that many drilled holes before that! Shocked

You must be seeing some kind of light at the end of this tunnel!?! Cool

To remove the old bed we drilled the spot welds. Since I still have the old bed, we used it for a pattern for the new welds.

Fair enough and a way to do it! Mine's strictly a work truck so I did over kill it with the bed! Even added two 1x3 steel bars across the bulkhead! After having an engine slide on the bed and nearly coming into the cab, figured better to strengthen it. Anxious

Keep it up though, looks like this will be the year to finish it! Cool

BTW, how do you plan on "crimping" the bed's edge? Confused

Well I'm not doing the bodywork. I see the body guy every week or two to discuss, I mean drink beer, I mean discuss what the next step will be. Jerry has been working on VW's and other cars for 30 years or more. He has the tools needed for the crimp.

Popcorn

Waiting on a passenger side dogleg from Gerson. 'bout 2 months now.

Popcorn
It's OK, though my body guy is getting a bit antsy. The lower 8" of the existing dogleg is quite crispy and has a bad dent on the bottom, the PO did a hack to put a lip on it to support a floor repair.

The floor repair was laughable, a couple of whacks with a hammer broke the poor welds and 1/2" of bondo used to glue it together.

I already have Gersons floor so just waiting on the dogleg.

Next weekend we will remove the steering box, beam and other bits and pieces from the frame. The frame will be painted and removed pieces detailed if they are still good. Then the beam will be painted before the reinstall.

For what? To post more pics or buy paper towels?

OK, Since I can't get any bodywork done and I have plenty of paper towels, I'll post more pics from yesterday.

Got her jacked up and removed the front beam and pulled all the cables, steering box, clutch and brake mechanisms and shift rod. Also dismantled the front beam.

^^^^ you can see 2 hammers ( large and small ) and a small flat head screw driver in this pic, those are the only tools you need to do this work.

Like the heater tube? Some one at one time though it would make a good jacking point. ( did not happen during my watch )

OK!!!! You made me go out and crawl under the front of my '72. I'm a dumb ass! OK!!!! Embarassed

This one is getting T-4 power. I'll save my '72 for radiators when the 1600 starts to get old. If I can pull off the '72 and make it look sweet like Fodder's then I'll take a stab at the SC.

Is it the bend area you're talking about?

The real hassle with that portion of the heater duct is the insulation wrap around it. Mine was originally "zippered" on but I ended up sewing the seam back together. Tight fit and difficult shape.

I am glad it's in 2 pieces so I can paint the inside for protection. The support for the bumper step look very good too. This weekend it goes down to Miami and the metal work will resume. Dancing

Sweet! Get going, I want to see this old girl in paint next!

You may want to really weld the captive nuts better. I did on my gerson floor pan. Seems the welds are a little weak
