I'm currently pretty bored over in the sand, and just took the time to re-read this entire thread What insanity! Great stuff! I can't tell you guys how much I miss doing that stuff.
Something I CAN tell you though, is that this bus became my driver-bus and together we have gone on many wild adventures, with family and friends. And while I did finally lose first gear in it's entirety, I can say this bus has been brought thoroughly back ON LINE! When I come back home for good, I'll be straight back up into the woods searching for the next worthy drive out.
Here's at least one video from last year, courtesy of Jeremy Leonard and Baddog Greg: (Safety Committee: Please look the other way!)

Brian all I can tell you is your drive out threads are hands down the most entertaining reading on this site. I wish you could do one a year. _________________ April 3rd 62 standard mgr/pw

Brian it was awesome getting updates from you while you did this drive out, and I'll never forget the awesome set up you had at bus fest. Can't wait for the next one |

Brian, can't wait to see your next adventure. I still wear the military cap you sent me and it provides plenty of inspiration. That is an awesome video you posted, nothing like seeing small hatch window busses!!!!! _________________ 62 Standard Type 2 (Nothing Fancy)

Brian: (If), I can make the deal for the odd camper bus I last told you about, maybe it could be next drive out bus. Its about 15 miles north of me on 101. I am not sure how you want to spend your "FREE" "TIME" here on your next R&R but there 's an offer. I'd have to work out details with the current owner.

Glad to hear from all you crazy cats again! Thanks for the nice comments too. You know, it's half the fun doing these drive outs for the vicarious enjoyment out there, but as most of you know, I'd rather do it this way regardless.
Dear Mr. Moore! How interesting an idea you've come up with today... We must talk. I think it was a Road Runner as you were saying... that would mean a post 63 Kombi or horribly hacked panel... didn't you say it had one of those OTW poptops on it?
Will await more details and consider this something of a plausible invitation... very interesting... |

Anxiously awaiting the next Drive Out Adventure! (DOA)
Thanks for sharing this with us and I agree that a tv crew would take the "soul" out of the experience. One man, one bus and a tool box. . . or 3!
Cheers,
Tony |

A small tv crew. Non interview style narrated by Brian after not during. It would be a huge tv hit. Or I would love to be there involved in the re-birth. I will likely never get to experience a drive out but ill say it again it is the best reading on the Sakhalin. _________________ April 3rd 62 standard mgr/pw

Had to bring this thread up again as I was reminded of it by Robert (Skinner's) recent forest bus save.
Brian - what's your status? You still in the sand or back home planning for the next epic drive out? BTW, thanks for your service. _________________ RPM=(MPH*336* (R&P*4th*1.26))/Tire Diameter in inches |

I just looked through it again recently myself, this thread should probably be a sticky!
