Been doing this Oval for a little while. Making the best out of what I got, the finish product should be pretty nice.
When I first went to buy this VW this is what I saw and I felt it was more work than I wanted to fix up so I turned it down. Looking back I shouldn't have but oh well.
Then my boy saw me in the club and was like " Yo son come check the 57 I did some work on it" Went back to his house and this is what I saw.
Wrong deck lid, front fenders and gas tank but I'll fix that.
I was like $hit lets make a deal, so the project began. Took the took off and started to work on the pan. We don't have powder coaters and sand blasting companies here so I had to put in real work.
It wasn't a pretty sight under the body but not the worse.
Don't know what I was thinking I started to paint the floor with out taking off the top and just wasted my time casue I took it off the took eventually.
I stripped and painted the chasis myself with Ospho Metal Treatment and Rust paint. No fancy power coating here wire brush on a grinder and sweat.
Wrong tank was in bug so I got one in great condition from a guy in Florida.
4" narrow beem from Jer*Fab.....met him to the classic too cool dude.
Had to send my Drop Spindles and carriers to KCW to get them pressed in. Once again Down here in the VI is hard to get certain things done. Big up to my cousin Deh Shark for all his help.
Changed my Bolt pattern to Porshe 5 X 130mm so I got these cookie cutters from FranklinVW Werks. Not the final shoes for the car but I need something to roll the pan around with.
Brand new tranny from Rancho Super Diff, Aluminum Side Cover, Welded 3-4 Hubs, Hardened Keys
So here we are, put on the Beam, shift, Emergency breaks, etc
Here is where I'm at now. Pretty much ready to be rolling again and find a body man to paint, but I ordered some POR-15 to touch up some spots.
Ok the POR-15 came in and I did over the whole pan, did tranny with little grinding detail. The rotors in Silver POR-15 and painted calipars red with Tire Rack Calipar paint.
The Final Paint up!!!
All brand new parts......a work in progress. Stay tuned!!!

Yeah Rich carnival is like the last week in April first week in May. You'll like it. There is a bug ride out on the same day as the speed boat races.
Here goes some of our dogs.

Ok been a while since the chasis work but I'm on to the body now.
When you don't know it a bad thing. My oval had on the wrong rear apron so I had to find a donor in Texas.
Just lining everything up before the weld up!
Next step is the front clip!! Donor on it way soon!

Thanks, I was green behind the ears when I bought this car and I really should not have bought it as a first time project. But with good freinds to help and a few trips to the VW classic to learn some stuff. I will beable to turn this into a pretty decent car
You gotta get down her, St. Thomas is where it at!

It is but I got good people helping me from Cali to the VI. I was a bit discourged but with recent links I made and help from an old friend I am very confident that I will have a solid nice ride.
