|
|
Ok guys, I was helping a fellow vw lover friend of mine sort through his accessories and this little gem fell out of some vintage sales brochures...Neither one of us had ever noticed it before and have no idea how it really got there. If you can read it, it says "Scandinavian Airlines System" and says " SAS Welcomes Aboard"....the best part is that it has an early VW logo on the front. It appears to be the same type of stock as cheap airfresheners and we have no idea how it lasted so long...
Anyone shed some light on this one??? Im guessing its some kind of luggage tag?

I don't know if this is it but it reminds me of one of the Tourist Delivery Brochures on the site.
I wonder if that was used as part of a Tourist Delivery trip package. _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

| I think Everett is right. The Volkwagen Club of America used to charter a plane to Germany every year to take club members over for a factory tour and to pick up the new tourist delivery cars they ordered. This could be a souvenir from one of those flights. |

Wow...well thats kinda cool. He has no idea as to how it got where it is now unless the individual he got the brochures from stashed it in there. Its in perfect condition too which is pretty nice.... _________________ 1959 Indigo Blue Type 1

On the other hand flights to Germany would normally be on Lufthansa, not Scandinavian Airlines, so the mystery deepens.
Maybe an ad for car rental? |

All ideas considered this would lead me to believe this should be a pretty rare item...especially since it has no name written on it and its in near perfect condition. Wish it had a year on it... _________________ 1959 Indigo Blue Type 1

| Volvo still does this, they are able to sell the car cheaper to this way, when you fly over to pick up your car the second you drive it, it becomes a used car and therefore Volvo doesn't get taxed! Win win I'm sure that's what this tag is, very cool. Glad you shared it! |
