Ken, sorry but you are mistaken, I am not responsible for the duty fees....Colombia and the US have a free trade agreement, there are no duties or taxes on Colombian products coming into the US....there has not been duties or taxes for the last 15 years that I know of.......there sometimes is a customs inspection charge, one out of about 50 shipments will get a detailed inspection...there are some charges that will be generated...but I do not know before hand, and I do not know what will be charged....it is usually in the neighborhood of $30.00 US.... _________________ that's not patina, that's fucking rust man!!!!

Gerson, while I have you here, do you reproduce the piece on the rear axle that holds the rubber bumper stops? I'm guessing not, but a guy can hope. _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat

The customs or duty fee's I had to pay to fedex was like $175 Plus sales tax fees of $380 and that's just half of the order.
Believe me I'm not blaming Gerson on this, I think shipping companies and us states are finding new ways to get in our pockets. I heard that allot of states are going to start taxing out of state online purchases. They already do within state taxing for online orders.

That's messed up. If you use* a good from outside the state you get taxed? How does that not totally destroy any business in AK? Or are companies that resell products exempt?
They have a State use tax + local use tax as well? Isn't that double/triple taxation? On TOP of the State Sales tax of 6.5%? Wow that is insane. 14-16% tax on anything you buy from out of state? Yikes!!

I thought you were buying a few pieces to restore a vehicle you owned...lol. $4,900 worth of stuff? I guess they assumed (correctly?) you are running a business? _________________ Looking for a correct 1967 rear seat

I was charged a 60 dollar duty at the time of delivery on a funky green order ans had to pay the UPS guy at the time.
A couple years later I recieved a refund for the fees from UPS in the mail.
I did not ask for the refund, they just sent it.
I guess the free trade agreement DID apply in my case. _________________ WANTED:

If anyone is curious...
Use Tax is a tax on tangible personal property purchased out-of-state and brought into Arkansas for use, storage, consumption, or distribution. The tax is designed to assure fair competition between Arkansas businesses and out-of-state businesses.
http://www.dfa.arkansas.gov/offices/exciseTax/salesanduse/Pages/Co.aspx
Could not find any wiggle room on this right now, but I am sure it is out there. Check the exemptions, it is a 200 page document. And by wiggle room I mean a legal way to get out of it that doesn't cost more than the tax.
Just realized this is off topic. I will make it up later by posting pictures of each piece of metal that comes in the mail (sent to a pal in Georgia 😉). |

Gerson on the single cab b pillar repair pieces, do you offer the inside piece only? I got the 6" pieces for both sides and the driver side is not made correctly. I know this isn't the correct place to contact you, but maybe others are in need of the same. _________________ Can't polish a turd!

Try calling Gerson Early in the AM 8am Florida time and inquire. Most my orders I've placed are received within 1-3 weeks. _________________ Special Thanks to:

He could be across the pond at shows. It's that time of year. Be patient the product is worth the wait. But I do understand your frustration. Keep calling;) _________________ Special Thanks to:

Has anyone used the AC or WW lower outer nose panel and have an opinion as to the quality? _________________ Your Vanagon sucks, Stop waving at me.

Hey Crofty, I just got one of the half noses cut above the headlight buckets from WW. I'm impressed with the quality. Not sure on the fit, but the metal and shape is very nice. |
