Buy the Bentley in book form. You will not have access to a computer when you actually need it.
The Wilson book on rebuilding yoru ACVW engine is worth the cheap money it costs also.
I still suggest making yourself a 3 ring binder to house various things that you may need to know someday. Mine contains a full color wiring diagram and is laminated, various things from Ratwell's site on pulling the engine, correct vacuum line hookups, fuel line specifics, etc.
I also have several printouts from here and elsewhere on how to rebuild the CV joints, how to troubleshoot the double relay, testing th eful presure correctly, replacing the door panel rain barriers, and stuff like that. |

Actally if you have an iPhone, like me, you can put the pdf version of the bently on it and use ibooks to read it and see the pictures, totally cool _________________ 78 hightop 2.0 FI

Being a former dealer boi, the Bentley is your main book. Plus, of course full membership here on the Samba!
Really, my Bentleys have taken a beating and keep on tickin'. I have bought huge 3 ring binders and have put each page in separate sheet protectors. This was a sunday detail with my son to preserve my type 1,2,and 3 Bentley's. Bill |

The "How to keep your Volkswagen alive" is nice to understand VW technology basics - but a lot of details of a bay window are missing.
Important is to have an original or a copy of the VW original parts in pictures catalog ("Original Teile Bildkatalog"). Than it is easier to understand all the parts of your car:

Thanks for the stuff that you have been up to Tcash. This is really cool
Not a service manual, but the buses owners manual could be added to the list. And maybe it is the most important instruction source for a new bus owner. Might save them a lot of headaches and troubles down the road.
Your providing information sources here potentially can make a lot of buses a lot happier. To bad laziness and poor literary abilities has become such a big enemy to bus welfare. _________________ 71 Superbug

DO double check some torque specs in the "without guess work" as some have been "up dated"
Specifically the gland nut torque was up graded by 30# _________________ some days I get up and just sit and think. Some days I just sit.

I ordered the hard cover off of Amazon last summer, it does have the electrical schematics in laminated color at the back of the book.
