Sorry no updates for a bit. My dad passed away and Grandfather diagniosed with dementia in same month. Been outta state for funeral and now in another state caring for my Grandpa till some other family can come take over. Hoping to get back at it middle of the month. Will have to see as family more important than the bus. |
Sorry for your loss and we will say a prayer for your grandfather.

Well I am back home finally. After a few weeks off from working on the restoration or any other projects for that matter has me working over time now to play catch up. Im just hoping for timelines but understand and want perfection over all and realize this target is always moving.
Currently working on installing new German tent from busdepot. I choose to leave the top on while doing this install mainly because I am a one man band most days. I have yet to take any pictures of my progress on the install but will my next day I am at the shop. Only one side of lower metal trim to screw down and I will be done with this PILA.
I do have a few pictures I took a few weeks ago. More to come very soon!

your bus looks AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!! im so jealous!!! i live the color of these green westies. i recently purchased a 1979 westie from a gentlemen in maryland for a relly good price. the body is in really good shape! (a few dents here and there) but anyway, the whole body is coated in primer and i was wondering what is the paint code for the color you used to paint the body of your bus? and what are the steps to take when prepping the bus for paint?
ill try to post pictures if i can, but for now, take a look at my album on facebook, PLEASE, I KNOW NO ONE LIKES FACEBOOK, BUT ITS THE ONLY WAY I CAN SUCCESFULLY UPLOAD PICTURES OF MY BUS! PLEASE DONT JUDGE, IM 17 AND I WORK HARD FOR MY BUS, I RESPECT ANYONE AND EVERYONE. IM NOT LIKE MOST KIDS THESE DAYS. I LIKE THE OLDER THINGS IN LIFE AND RESPECT THEM!

Matt, you know I love my bus, and that I have put a lot into it, but your bus is bloody amazing; perhaps the best on earth. Those photos are stunning.
Conspicuous is in its absence is the so called rock guard under your rear bumper. What's the deal with that? _________________ *****************

Thank you for the kind words. The color is Sage green L63H .
As for preping for paint if you search in the Paint and Body thread on the samba you will find the info you are after.
Best of luck on your paint job! _________________ Special Thanks to:

Now you have me curious what you are seeing or not seeing? Do you have a picture of the rock guard for rear bumper? is this a stock part?
Your bus is amazing in its mostly OG state. A far cry from my ground up redo. I would much rather have a OG bus if I had the choice. _________________ Special Thanks to:

I think I have said it before but this is a restore that restores should be measured by... Looks amazing!!!!
That fact that my pedestal patch was cut from the same mat as the patch on this bus somehow increases the quality of my restore.
Thanks again for hooking me up!
FYI- I did the dryer trick on my wheel cover a couple weeks ago and it worked like a charm. I put it in on high for about 3 minutes so it got nice and soft, then ran it out to the bus and put it on. I looks perfectly wrinkle free now! _________________ All 48! |

Yes, it's a stock part. Here are a couple of photos. Hell even my rotted out '79 has its stone guard still.

Mine was taken off during my refresh. It is coated and ready to go back on. Snapped a picture for you since it was lying in my entrance way anyhow:

Dan, what colour did you go with on this? I've read that it's a kind of flat, charcoal greyish color. _________________ 1976 Sage Green Westfalia Deluxe
