What did you use to replace the original basket weave sticker material for the headliner?

Gowesty basket weave. Difference is ita whiter in color.

I read that their material has fabric on the back. Is that true? How did it effect putting the material on the wood backing? Did you use spray glue? Overall, are you happy with it?

I've been watching your build and went through every page now. Great work!!!

Yes their is a fabric on the back of the material. Spray glue works fine for this application. Make sure you clean and sand the old glue off the pieces you are redoing. Over all Im very happy with how it turned out.

Thank you for reading my thread on this restoration.

Matt now that you have experience with the tent replacement I'm bringing mine over and you can help with it. That looks great.

Bring it by. Prepare for two days of a real PITA, that's if you do it with top on.

If you going to VW on the green this weekend look for my bus with Wolfsburg Autowerks.

Curtis - Let me admit that I have NOT read through your entire thread so what I'm about to ask may be in there, but was currious what your experience was concerning the window rubber seal replacement. Not the task, but the seals themselves.
Were you happy with the products? What did you use? Where did you purchase them? Was there any that of the seals that you would not recommend. On this topic, Samba has as many differing recommendations as there are opinions. Since you've recently have done yours, I thought you'd be a great and reliable source. Especially since you are building what appears to be a show quality bus.

Now for the flattery. You have done one OUTSTANDING job and are quite the profectionist. Well done sir, well done! Nothing but envy on this end.

The only window seal recommendation i can give is buy only German seals. Try busdepot or Oveedub.

Thank you for the kind words!

My bus is a p22. Not the deluxe model. Only have sink and cooler. No propane or outside water hookup or refrigerator.

Had a '78 Sage green back in '98. Just picked up another '78 Westy, but this time a CEII.

Saw early in your posts you received a shipment of jalousie windows. Were those rebuilt or NOS that you found somewhere?

TIA,

Steve

The jalousie were OG to the bus. I polished and rebuilt them myself. You will see a long winded how to video in this thread and also in the FAQ under jaliouse restoration. Mine the second link. Long boring video.

Well I have to say Im on cloud 9. Been a long road and still not done but today I got a nice pat on the back.

Best of show Trophy and to top it off best in Class Trophy. I also will be featured in HotVW mag. WHat a groovy day!

ANd my mechanice took home best in his class for his 67 bug. What a thrill to be apart of the VW On The Green held in Golden, CO.
