whats a bleedback valve?

A rubber flap built in the filter to prevent oil from passing back the wrong direction. From what I have heard.

The anti-bleedback valve is actually a steel cap attached to a spring. It opens as the engine is started and oil pressure builds, and it closes as the engine is turned off and oil pressure drops. It keeps oil in the system so that lubrication can start quicker on a cold start. If you have an anti-bleedback valve, it will be very evident as you look into the filter. I can take a picture of my Passat filters when I am back in town, if someone needs a pictorial.

Pictures are soon to come. It's been in shop for a bit of fine tuning. Coming home tomorrow and it's back to work. Hoping everything I have planned comes together before May 20. Thinking of entering in a show. VW on the green. Do not get me wrong as I'm rushin nothing for this date but it helps to have goals to manage my time so that's the plan. Not much left to do.

- shocks (in transit. Bought Koni's from busdepot)
- front beam restore
- headliner install
- canvas install
- minor plumbing
- upper bed decking install

Then it's to my wish list as all these parts function but have 87,000 miles so I want to replace them at some point.
- master cylinder
- all brakes, rotors, ect
- gauges (CHT, oil pressure, oil temp, tach)
- steering dampener
I no I'm missin something

Well enough talking for now!

Need some technical help. So I'm currently putting on exterior colors for my 79 Federal edition Westfalia. Not sure if it matters but the bus was first bought in Wyoming. Anyways I'm looking for pictures or info on the placement of the large Westfalia stickers on front and back of bus. I have only seen couple post on this and they are a bit confusing with info.

My bus when I bought it only had the rear sticker on it. No front lettering. Did this model only come with rear sticker? ( I do know about the two luggage stickers) thanks for all your help.

I dont think it had front lettering, no. In fact, I dont think I've ever seen one with original front lettering. Hmm.

But it did have rear lettering correct? And if so have you seen any placement measurements for it. Or a good picture to go by. All th pictures I find are so far away I cannot tell exact placement of sticker. I no it goes on drivers side but how far from corner does it start? And how centered is it from the ledge it sits above? Thanks for the info Kirk

Matt,

78 and 79's had the Westfalia sticker on the back only. It is
centered to the left side.

Here are some gallery pics that should help you.

And there's plenty of earlier ones than that around with them, nothing to stop a PO from buying one and applying it themselves, people like stickers.

My '78 does not have the rear sticker. I'm leaning towards busdaddy being right this one time. Wink
