Hi Guys,
Need your help on this one.......
Of all the dashes I have sent all over the world, without breakage, I now have one guy that e-mailed me that his Dash was broken on arrival.
As the shipment was insured, I asked if he could claim from his side as they will not take my word that the shipment is damaged without proof.
He said after a long time, No he could not as his POSTMAN had said he can not claim as I insured the shipment on my side.
On this statement, I said that I will claim from my side as long as he sends me a signed and stamped letter from his postal service to state that the shipment was in fact damaged by them and not by him self, trying to open the parcel.
My reply is that he will not have to wait for the claim to be processed, but that I will sent the replacement dash, at my expense once I have that letter.
Have I acted correctly, yes or no, or should I handle it differently.???
Your input please.

Sounds fair. I have no experience with how well this works in practice, though. |

Second on the picture. This is 2015, if this guy can't e-mail you a pic within an hour or two then something is up.
I don't know which country the guy is in but I can't imagine anyone in the US Postal Service writing such a letter. You might be waiting a long time for that! |

Yes, in the US - the recipient cannot file any damage claims, it has to be the person or compamny that sent it
The US postal service is not going to write a letter stating it arrived damaged. They never would do that, never ever ever.
Good luck. In my opinion, this is the cost of doing business. Have him send a picture of the cracked dash, file a claim on your side, send him another dash wrapped more carefully
I have held one of your dashes in my hands, yes I could see how it would break if the box was crushed from improper handeling/loading/conveyer belt system _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

Hey Herman, dash arrived, exactly what was described. No damage and after a bit of wrestling with the packaging it was worth the wait. Very well done |
My dash arrived today! After waiting for 4 days after it already cleared customs, USPS never updated that it had left New York it just arrived at my house! It looks great, and I can't wait to install it in the notch! Thanks Herman looks to be a quality product! _________________ 64' Notchback "S" 1915cc bagged |

I have a bunch of them but was unhappy with the hole size. You can read about it on page 18 of this thread. They could be made to work, I'm just not interested in putting that much more time into them. _________________ 69 Fastback Build

Just to clarify, Herman does not make them with speaker holes. I'm having jigs made up so you can do it yourself if desired. |
Yup- Understood... my finger is on the button any time! |
I finally took delivery of 10 jigs.
I'm a little frustrated with the whole thing as they were machined with 2mm holes instead of 2.5mm like the first run of 1 was.
Contemplating what to do. I went through enough trouble getting them made, so it will be a total PITA to get them redone in 2.5mm. I started drilling one of them out by hand to 2.5mm, but it will take forever to do them all. IDK, maybe 2mm holes will look ok for some of you? Or pass on the 2.5 drilling, I have a bunch of 2.5mm bits I intended to ship with them.
|
So sell/ship the 10 jigs to every Continent for people to drill with. _________________ https://imgur.com/user/FisherSquareback/posts

Well done, think it will be OK.
When the 1st guy drills his holes, he can use the 2.5 mm drill, this will not only drill the dash but clear out the holes at the same time.
Have you worked out a cost yet.???
Thanks for doing this for the Type 3 restoration community.

This is true of UPS and FedEx, but the USPS will let you file a claim as a recipient, and allow you, as recipient, to collect any claim funds awarded.
Ive had horrible experiences trying to file claims with UPS and FedEx and trust that the seller reimburse me for the damaged merchandise I purchased and its always a gamble.
When somebody ships something to me via USPS and its damaged, I can file a claim online and usually receive a check 2-3 weeks later. _________________ '65 1500 S [quareback]
