Yeah, I was talking to those two fellows, they seemed pretty cool. Was he the shorter one? I was picking up an engine case I had machined for my old split bus and had just dropped off 3 old SA trannies to John. I had kind of a stressful morning yesterday, you know the kind of day where you break everthing you touch. So I decided to put everthing else on the back burner and load my old bus up with transmissions and go for an afternoon cruise(one of the perks to not having a boss anymore), by the time I got home I felt a lot better. Just needed a little VW therapy.
P.S.- I do still have a boss but she's pretty good to me. |

Building a playhouse for the rugrats. Tell me they won't be the envy of all the neighborhood kids.

No really, its gonna be a playhouse. I'm in the process of putting a slide out of the side door. It's also going to have a swingset and monkey bars on the lower side attached to the frame work under the bus. I'll post pictures as I go. I sure wish I had one of these when I was a kid.
After seeing that deer stand though, it may double as a tree stand this deer season. |

| We used a tractor with a frontend loader with loading forks to set it up there. It's alot higher than it looks, about 8' to the rocker on the lower side and about 6' on the upper. I'll tell you what, I'll come up and build you one and even supply the bus. Then I'll haul that old "shabby" bay off just to get it out of your way. The only thing you need to do is sign the title. |

Sorry I missed the last trip. I wound up driving to get more parts for the Ghia from Vic instead. The Ghia has officially nickel and dimed me to death. It had quite a vibration at speed and felt like it was all the time wiggling. I thought the old tires were just flat spotted so I mounted a brand new set of tires yesterday and nothing changed. Come to find out all but one of the wheels are bent all to hell. They must have been used on a pipe buggy or something. Anyone have a good set of 4 lugs they want to sell? I may just buy a new set of 8 spokes for it and call it a day. At this rate I'll never get to leave the city limit in this car. _________________ 'Nanner Yellow '73 Thing

Sounds like a plan. What are we driving, your single cab? I really would like find one, just a little closer. We are heading out on a roadtrip about 2am Saturday morning. Going to Topsail Island with the family the week of the 4th, taking my '72. |

I will gladly caravan with you again, but this I'm taking the lead if you're driving that old brown clinker. I had oil spots on my windshield for 2 months after following you up last year. I'm getting the old bay ready for the beach and found out I had 1 front brake pad worn almost to the metal. I went out to the barn and found an old caliper with one good pad, problem solved. I don't think it's considered hoarding if you eventually do use it. Am I right? |

Ok, great. I haven't been on here in a few days. I work 4-midnight today so if you are coming through after 4 I'll be at the office. Just give me a call and I will come out and meet you. Thanks! _________________ 'Nanner Yellow '73 Thing

Well, you do have a point. It's a shame it wasn't oil soaked 30 years ago, too little too late. |
