Does anybody know if beauty rings (trim rings) for 14" stock wheels are avialable?
If not, I have a lowered bus (dropped spindles) and can use 4 or 5 lug wheels due to spacer/adapters installed. Has anybody fitted 15" rims into that wheel well without rubbing? I am thinking I will need to go as low as 50 on aspect ratio. I am thinking of 195 up front and 205 rear. Rather give myself some more side wall for comfort of ride but don't think there is room. Anybody's experience with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

| the combination of rim plus tire should add up to a certain profile. i don't know what that is off hand but when you start changing this, you change other stuff to that that you didn't anticipate. if you drop your bus 3 1/2" and run vintage profile tires, they will most definately rub. don't go wider than 185. 66 has the flared rear fender skirts. you may encounter difficulty getting the wheels into position to mount on the drums. stock rims will fit in more easily because of the offset. as for profile, you may have to drop that some too. i'll check out one of my buses that is lowered and see what's on it for tires. if the front tires rub in the wheel arches, and the lowering has been accomplished w/ drop spindles, you will need to put on a set of beetle rear coil over shocks and crank them back up 1 1/2". if you beamed the bus, same thing, raise it up. smaller tires are going to make you rev higher, affect mileage, a be tough on your red. boxes |

| you still got redux boxes? If so, yank em for a straight axle kit. 205's will rub with that kit though and you may have to drop the axle to get the wheel on. Beam your bus anyway, that way you can customize the ride quality w/o going for that coil over thing.NAES |
