We were lucky enough to be chosen for one of the "Readers Showcase" in the November issue of HOT VW'S page 81. We would like to thank everyone that helped us along the way. With the help of many Samba members we were able to find resolutions to various problems that had us stuck and for that we are thankful. _________________ It's not the size of your shop, it's what comes out of it that counts.

Yes ,I am proud to say, it is a roll on paint job and it turned out good. Sure its not perfect but neighter is the car, we off-road it alot and we were not going to put a lot of money into the paint job, that we would end up scatching. from 10 feet or more it looks great.lol and for a total investment of under $70.00 dollars it was hard to beat. there is alot of information on the internet roll on paint jobs. _________________ It's not the size of your shop, it's what comes out of it that counts.

The paint job was my wifes doing, I did not have any faith in it until it was done. She got the information on line here on The Samba. we scotch -brited the whole car first and we wet sanded between each coat. If you are looking for a show quality this is not the way to go. but if you are looking for a nice looking paint job from 10 feet or more and is easy to touch up after getting scratched from off-roading and you will not cry when it does get scratched , then this is something to look into. its like anything the more you put into it the more you get out of it. I will say I have done well at car shows and when I tell people about the paint job they are totally interested and want to know more about it. Please check out some of the other paint jobs that have been rolled on and buffed out , you will be surprised. _________________ It's not the size of your shop, it's what comes out of it that counts.

| Back in the day the military used to paint their jeeps and other vehicles with the roller method. Of course they were OD and a shine was not required but it is a tried and true method. Don't have any idea how they'd do it now. |

That looks like the way I'd like to paint Hermann
Is Rust-olium brand paint an integral part of the process, or do you think it would work with some custom-mixed RAL 7021 from Sherwin Williams

We did not use Rust-olium so no you are not stuck with that brand, I'm not sure of the brand my wife used but I remember she got it from our local Hardware store. ( Ace Hardware ) _________________ It's not the size of your shop, it's what comes out of it that counts.

Would acrylic enamel paint be to thin to roll on the inside of my thing? I'm in the middle of body work and want to go Orange. The original paint was white which is under the hood and trunk. Over the past 30 odd years someone painted the inside red and the outside Acapulco style Blue with white strips(looks hand painted)
Was going to go red on the outside from fooling with the inside, now you may have found me a solution.. If I could just sand and hand paint the inside orange then I'd be happy.
My brother has a gallon of Harley Orange acrylic enamel I can get for the inside and match for clear coat base for the outside.
thoughts and appreciate any advice. (May even post on paint forum).
thanks |
