Hey, I've got a '67 bus with the original case and I upped it to 1600cc SP(orig. is 1500cc) and i was wondering. I'm running at like 200 Degrees, now i know the ideal temp is like 180, would it help me to put in a doghouse cooler, with larger fan? I've got all the parts to do it, would this lower my temp 20 degrees or so? Also, the Engine is in tune, and the carb is adjusted right along with the 009. So that's not the problem. Ok, One more thing. I've got an oil Pressure gauge, and i was wondering, what's the average pressure? I'm running about 30-32 at High rpm's when it's hot...is this right? When it starts up, it's close to 40(with cold oil) And at idle it's down to like 10..when it's hot. Thanks to any help. Is it time to open it up? Peace

If you have the parts I would put it on. That was the whole idea behind the doghouse. Better cooling. Also if you still have heat flaps, make sure it's set rite.

Keep Cool

put the doghouse on it with all the seals. All of them. plug wire seals, engine seal decklid seal etc, you'll notice a big difference. adjust the valves. Did you set upthe motor with a bumped up compression? It should be around 8.5:1 for normal driving. good luck, NAES

Make sure your timing is right on. This has corrected a couple of hot engines for me.

Well, I put it on, and after driving it around a while...it's still the same temp...so...in conclusion, either my engine is weird, or the doghouse, only saves the #3 from being over heated...but oil temp seems to be the same(I was hard on it yesterday too..I'll update another temp or something later)
