Here's a subject that has been beaten to death and I had the answer for myself until today. I had kept a link to a website (should have printed it out) that showed how to take a regular antenna, remove it from the base, bend a matching diameter bolt, put it in the base and attach the antenna to the bolt with an "antenna repair kit" which was basically a union to slide the bolt and antenna into. Called the auto parts stores today and since it is now cheaper to just replace the antenna, the repair kits are obsolete.
My antenna is on the passenger side in the usual place and until a complete resto job in a few years I cannot change the location... Any ideas? I've seen a posting about a spring that is used to wrap the outside of the antenna shaft to keep it from collapsing when bending.
Thanks,
Scott |

Scott,
I have the same problem. Heres what Im gonna try,,,Take the antenna off, fill it with some kind of fine sand and bend the antenna. I do not know if this will work, so
I would try it on an old antenna first. |

Hella Bro,
Does the antenna shaft come off of the mount?
I haven't taken mine off the bus yet. I'll check it out tomorrow.
Thanks... |

I know this is way out, but when I bought my Single CAb, the antenna was mounted to the bumper. Have pics if needed, looks pretty cool. No holes in the front at all of the body. Now that I have replaced the bumper I found yet another antenna mounted on the truck, but it is mounted to the chassis underneath giving the truck a streamline look.

Scott,
I was told recently that the antenna does come off the base. Ive never tried it, but I always thought it wouldn't either. |

Hey Hella,
I will bend one soon and I'll let you know how it goes. I'll try to photo it all to document it once and for all.

| Scott. I'm the guy who had the website about the safari antenna. They turned off the webiste cause I didn't pay. I thought it was automated billling to my credit card. As far as the antenna, you have to use a Harada brand antenna but Harada is no longer in business. The repair part was packaged under different manufacturers names with the same part in the different packages. It's a specific type of repari mast. There are others - tthey won't work. |
