This fact says: "VW Fact #672: Volkswagen de Mexico boasts that 26 million rear-engined, air-cooled, boxer-motor VW brand Beetle Sedans have been built & sold since 1935, of which 1.7 million have come from the Puebla factory since 1954."
I thought the "VW brand" (as opposed to the KDF-Wagen) didn't start until after the war.
I also thought world-wide total production was more like 21 million. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society

It does appear to be either 21 or 22 million but doing some internet searches.
I will correct that.
Information welcome on the other data. _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

Prior to the war when Dr. Porsche was doing the development work, the car was always referred to as " the Volkswagen". The round "V" over "W" logo was also designed pre-war.
During one of Adolf's speeches, he called it the KDF-Wagen. Nobody had the balls to argue..... _________________

True that, now that you point it out. Although it was more of a generic term back then, I think it's good enough to support the claim. _________________ Central Jersey VW Society
