Yes, Sept. is still a go, you can join the Canadian crew and hang out with the cool kids
The diets going good. I figured out where to shave another 10 pounds off the car
It will hopefully be a very easy year for you (and me). I made a deal for a pro-built tranny so at the most we should be just tuning and swapping rear tires. No more tranny swaps in 90* heat hopefully......
Oh, and you can be my belt bitch and strap my fat a$$ in this can At least I got cam locks this time.....
Happy New Year Bud, same to Ms. L.

To the belt bitch, if you want your driver to go faster, once you have him all belted in, reach in and put a zip tie around his testicles and tighten it as much as you can. Tell him as soon as he gets finished you'll cut it off.
Works every time.
Sorry Brad, just trying to help you get that record run in! _________________ Mother Nature is a Mean Evil Bitch! |

As some of yo umight know I've been layed up with a crushed tibia for the last 2 months so nothing has really been done on the car. I had enough sitting around and honored my comitment to put my car in the annual Easter show with 3 other LSR racers. I managed to spend abuot 1/2 an hour a day in the garage this week and faked enough stuff together and cleaned up the car to put it in. Here's a couple shots of the ALMOST finished car. Made a list of what needs to be done and I think I can do it before I have to head south in September to try out the car on the big white dyno
What it's going to look like in the car

Things have been going pretty well with my recovery. I'm finally getting some better mobility and can get a bit of work done each day. It's taking forever to get stuff done, but at least it's getting done.
Got a set of spindle mount wheels and H&H 22x3.5 frontrunners
Finished the rear wiring for lights and motor
Fabricated the mounts for the race seat. Will be a 5 minute swap
My new transaxle from Metalcraft Motorsport's mcmscott. Looking forward to putting my tranny problems behind me at Bonneville.
Here's the new tranny in place with the clutch cable hooked up, shocks in, axles on and starter ready to crank over the motor when it gets to my garage.

The first test fit of the big engine. It fit a lot better than I expected. I only have to modify the firewall a bit to fit the velocity stacks better which is a big relief. Also got the fuel pressure regulator mounted and fuel lines made up at the back of the car.

Put a battery in the car tonight and powered it up. Everything lit up like it should and works just as planned. Always fun to power up a car for the first time. After I flush the fuel system and check the pressure I can fill the tank with C-12 and light the candles.

Just wanted to pop in and say it was fun reading through your build. Good job man. Ever since my 68 was stolen almost 2 weeks ago I've been depressed without a vw, so I pulled out my 55 from the depths of the garage. And starting to do its restoration. Luckily I have most of the stuff to put it back together, but sadly I can't afford to build it the way I originally had planned (which is the reason I had it sitting for 5 years). Ill have to do a build thread, let me get some more work into it and more pics.
Again man. Cool car. _________________ Gotta give my props to:

So I couldn't help but notice the passenger seat. When can I come by for a ride? Maybe it will motive me enough to get the 57 done.
Keep up the great work...September is approaching... _________________ 53 Canadian standard oval

Be more than happy to take you for ride. Maybe toss you the keys LOL
I'll let you know when it's open for rides so you can purchase your tickets in advance
I'll have to charge you for the ride. You ever price out VP fuel. Holy Fack I paid $65 for the same amount at Bonneville.
