I don't know about in real life but on my monitor I can't tell where you blended the paint. Looking good! |

Thank you. The blend looks different in different lighting and different angles. Sometimes I can see a slight variation of color, sometimes not. Its funny because if I look at it straight on, the shine is too dull (like I added too much flatener) but at an angle, the shine matches the OG paint. I'm my worst critic so for a while every time I look at the bus I'll see exactly where the blend is. I just got to remember that it looks 100 times better than before. Thanks again for the compliments. |

Got the bus ready for its maiden camp trip with the family.
Installed the camper bed. Just need to finish the seat with new grey upholstery.
Loaded the bus with family and gear up in the mountains outside of town. Its a 15 mile stretch and about a 3000 ft climb. The tired old 36 hp worked slow and hard though we finally made it.
Some pics of the family. My expecting wife Christa (25 weeks), our dog Mookie and myself. Our friends daughter Autumn joined in as well.
Getting the baby behind the wheel at a very ealy age. Not much more room left.
It rained a lot of the time so there was a little mud to play in. It was great putting the freshly painted wheels and hubcaps to use.

This is what its all about. Thanks for sharing your build!
I love the look of your bus. Just a clean, great looking Kombi Kamper! If I ever finish my project this will be my next venture. A great bus to take camping, exploring and fishing! Thanks for the inspiration!
What's the next step!

Great job on that blend. From the photo, I can hardly tell. _________________ 89 Tristar Syncro Doka - White

Mostly drive and enjoy it with some more camping next spring! This will be my winter transportation, so the main goal is to get it winter ready. Next will be new rubber all around, insulation and panels on the inside. The near future will be a new motor since the 36hp in it now dosn't cut it with the hills around here. Later I plan on replacing the nose (once I find a nice bullet nose) and repaint the roof matching the patina on the rest of the bus. This is all pending since the wife and I are expecting our first child in about 4 weeks. |

So, are the bumpers too NICE to use trailbashing . The bed looks super comfy. It looks a lot more spacious without the coat closet. _________________ "My biggest worry is that when I die, my wife will sell all my parts for what I told her I paid for them"-Jon

Ha Ha! The funny thing is that I "un-niced" them already. I started off painting them in a PPG single stage paint. They turned out so nice and shiney that they looked really wrong on the bus. So I scuffed up the shiney paint and sprayed it with krylon dover white to match the wheels. Its sounds kind of backwards though it looks much better with the krylon paint. I look forward to adding a little wear and tear to them on the trails.
The bed is so much more roomy with the cut down closet. It sleeps 2 very nicely.

Thank you. I really dig this bus a lot. It's been a real blast getting it back on the road again. |

You'll be amazed what a little insulation and the interior panels will do to help keep the heat in and noise out!
Good luck w/ the new addition! My boys have enjoyed helping dad wrench on my busses! |

Took the kombi out on the first camp trip of the summer.
It was also the first camp trip for the little one. She loved it!
It was a bit cold. Still got some snow.
Couldn't resist the photo op on the way home.
I haven't made much progress on the bus since my girl was born. Just been driving it almost every day and enjoying it. |

I retired the old 36 horse motor and put in a slightly used 1955 that I had in my 21 window. It was also converted to 12 volt. I tested the motor out this weekend and put it to work. Took the bus up into the high country to cut some firewood. It was loaded so much that the front tires were rubbing a tiny bit on tight turns. It was a beautiful day with the colors changing. The pics just don't show how awesome it was out there.
