Is it just me, or is this a nuclear power plant on VW's property in Wolfsburg?

It's a cooling tower, commonly used to remove heat caused by manufacturing. I doubt it is nuclear. _________________ 1986 Vanagon Westfalia EJ25

It's not manufacturing. Nothing that big would ever be used for cooling. Take a look at the coal beds and cooling water ponds adjacent to the tower and the symetric buildings to the right. Definitely a power plant. _________________ 89 Westy 2.1 Auto |

It VW's own powerplant, coal powered...
Visited the plant last year and is HUGE (even that word is too small )
The kids had a lovely day in Autostadt (a VW museum just to the east of the old powerplant - here: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=wolfsburg&ll=52....6&z=16) _________________ Regards,

It still is a cooling tower though.
Not a pic of the actual tower... _________________ 1986 Vanagon Westfalia EJ25

A pretty impressive amount of coal stock piled. I wonder is they have supply problems which require so much reserve. I worked at a power plant of about that same size years ago and they kept enough reserve on hand to make it through any anticipated railroad or miners strike. |
