I'm doing a heater core replacement on my 86 GTI and I've run into a little bit of a problem. I can't manage to get the center vent to come off. I've unscrewed the two top screws and undone the clips on the inside of the bottom of the vents, but it won't come loose.

The guide I'm following doesn't mention anything else that needs to come loose and I don't want to force it off and have to go source one from a junkyard (Mk2's are becoming scarce these days).

Thanks in advance,
Chris.

I don't know much on the mk2's,

water cooled cars.

I am right in the middle of this job right now.

There are two 10mm nuts located inside the firewall that anchor the heater box.

undo these and you are good to go.

You probably already found this answer on the vortex but I thought I would bump this to improve the samba knowledge base.
