I used your advice and contacted Pete at Airkewld. He is sending me two sets of the rear banjo lines with banjo fittings, (one set for me, one set for wvbowtieman).

The way I look at it about the hard line, it will be very hard to service the rear set up with a fixed brake line. The calliper cannot be removed from the bracket to access the pads, wheel bearings, rotor, seals or any other wheel related service without breaking the line loose and having to bleed the brakes every time. Any front calliper has a soft line that allows the calliper to be removed without breaking the hydraulic system just to remove it.

I will run a soft line setup so in the future I can service the system with ease.

I am just the messenger. It makes sense.

This has been a busy week for the Manx. I have not updated as I am in kind of a rush to get the body in paint. I managed to get all the holes filled with resin and glass. I also used “AEROSIL” a suspension additive that turns resin in to paste. I am able to spread it like filler but it is as strong as the glass. I also fit the rear wall. I used 2” aluminum angel and trimmed 1” off the lower and riveted them together this will be padded and covered in leather. I had to move the hinges back on the rear deck as it was hitting the body when opened. I then set the lock up. I changed up the location as I think it would screw up the visuals of the deck. I had to make a custom arm and made a hole in the body for it to work. I will be making a garnish out of aluminum to dress it up. I will also be making a receiver box for the lower part to finish it off.
I managed to get most of the work done on the tank and filler. It still need some work but I do not need the body for that.
I also plumed the brakes. I started with “Ni Copp” line this is nickel/ copper. This line allows me to polish is like stainless and will stay that way. It is awesome stuff.
I had custom plugs made and welded in for the seat belts by a friend of mine who does extreme welding. As a safety item I would rather have him do it, besides my TIG is stuck behind the woody.
I am sure I missed something. I will post if I remember.

Here are some changes I am making to the pods. Although the pods are kool, I find the vent hole (For lack of a better term.) falls short. I wanted to give them a more refined and completed look. I have also had directional badges made that will be counter sunk in to the glass. They will also be painted by John to match the front and rear. Yes, the will be trimed.

Very cool Tom. Looks like you had a lot of night dreaming about what to do next after Rainbow Bright hit the fence.

Seem to be paying off and this is more "Kustom" Wink

I like the ideas Tom, they will look great when done. If you come far enough South and I come far enough North, I hope to see it in person some day.

Very nice , you are correct they are too plain in that area.

Its urethane. The same stuff they make surf boards with. Its great for sculpting and glassing. You could use Styrofoam as long as you have "Styrofoam safe" resin or you coat it with latex paint. I prefer the good stuff.

I will be at the mercy of my painter. It’s going to be tight. I still have a lot to do but I am not going to rush it. I would much rather do it right. I don’t like redoing things. It hurts my brain. Brick wall

No, They are magnesium. Its an acid splash system. The guy who does our stampings makes them.

I did get some work done over the weekend but sadly something abruptly came up that needed my attention. I will post what I did later.

Unfortunately, due to a bit of a family emergency over the weekend I was not able to get the body to Dominic for paint.
Saturday and Sunday I was supposed to make the side veins and badge recesses. It took a good part of the day to make the veins out of urethane foam. I managed to get them both done and the first coat of Plaster of Paris on to refine them. At this point before the plaster curses completely I was supposed to sponge sand the shape but at this point I was called away.
Sunday I managed to escape a couple of hours and make the recesses. I now have to hard sand the Plaster of Paris. This is going to take some time.
Sadly the events of this weekend pushed my already strained schedule too far. I really do not think the buggy will be completed for the show. However if it is far enough along I will bring it to show what has been done.

Tom - sorry to hear your car may not be ready for Carlilse, but bring it anyway, just like the Imp a few years ago, it was under "Kustomstruction" if I remember.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you probably shouldn't blame a family "issue" near the end of a project, for missing the deadline. You (we) need family support for these crazy time consuming, expensive hobbies. It reminds me of when I worked in the Aerospace industry and they missed a deadline on an expensive part. They would blame the people at the end of the process, forgetting the late start or not wanting to pay OT or working on another part in the middle of the process which was the real problem. Sometimes it was just a unrealistic expectation on how long it would take to make the part.

We will save you a ride for the cruise (if we finish the Manxter), but Kathleen says you and the camera have to stay inside the car this time when it is moving. Besides, the deadline has not passed yet, so you still may make it. Tom

I have had this project scheduled almost to the last minute based on the other buggies we build. Unfortunately, not going to paint this week was a real problem.
BTW’ this was the emergency. It’s my 18 year olds car. The other car ran a red light. Needless to say, dealing with this takes up a lot of time.

Intact windshield suggests no head banging going on. Thats good.

Watching my 17 year old son go off each morning still gives me the rumbly belly.

Hope he/she is OK.
