It's a Bug-Tech shifter from Germany.

Crappy picture of my glass shift knob. It's very similar to the glass pieces at a tobacco shop.

I'm really into photography and hope to make my bus the same!

Had an old film camera used the lens and sanded down the old shift knob and got it to fit inside and just JB welded it up!
Let me know what you think

How do you guys get the glass door knob to fit onto the shifter?? I SWEAR I thought of this idea before seeing the pictures! Anyway, from what I understand the shifter threads on my bug are most likely 12x1.5. I'm looking at buying an old glass door knob, but it has a brass base. How hard would that be to re-thread, or drill out to fit in an adapter? I've found some pre-made glass door knob shifter knobs on ebay but they are all threaded in standard pitch, 3/8 or something like that.

How can I make it happen?

I have this in black covering, on both my VWs. Sure I got them at dealer in the 1970s to go in place of the stock one.

To do it the right way, the threads in the knob have to be changed. You need to talk to your local machinist friend or you can stick it on with some epoxy.

I made my own. I went over to TAP plastics and bought polyester resin then found a sphere ice cube mold from Bed Bath and Beyond. I also added glow in the dark pigment...just because I like stuff that glows and it looks cool. I'm smoothing out some of the mold marks and will re-buff.
