So, I am a graphic designer and I'll like to reproduce the body color code label that goes under the windshield washer tank. I am going to order the material to be printed on (same or better than the original metallic silver foil sticker). I have the correct fonts (so it looks as original possible) and the right laser (waterproof) facility. Is this something that people are interested for their restoration?

It would be $5 (including shipping).

I can do special order for even to the none VW colors. As soon I have enough orders I can be able to put an ad in Samba.

What do you think?

you used to be able to buy them, so make sure they are not available elsewhere before you sink a lot of money into this. would hate to see you get burned

I seen those. there is no copy rights for printing these labels. Except for the ones with the VW logos. So, I think I am good in that area. I just spoke with a lawyer friend and he investigated about this particular print outs. So, I'll do them for $4 free shipping.

I'm interested so put me down for one. I would have you do a non VW color for me. "Dove Gray 1N"

Here is one I had made for my Fastback based on the original dimensions by a guy in the UK that makes decals. The material isn't an exact match but I wasn't concerned. I contacted him to make more but he said he's too busy now and basically shunned me. So I'm glad your here offering do do this now!

Steel blue in German. Those two dots above the "a" don't belong there but I thought it was kinda cool. I guess if someone knows German they can call me out on it!

There are some color code labels available, but the selection is very slim so most of us havent been able to get the one we need. I would order some if it was on the exact type silver label material (not better or worse quality) I need one for my '65 its panama beige, I'll also need one for my '62 when I figure out what color Im painting it and I cant remember if my '55 had one or not. Its originally savannah beige, but Im changing the color to another '55 color when thats done......that ones gonna be after my '62.

Write me down for Turkis, Velvet and Gulf Blue. I'd order more for my friends in my car club- great gifts. Any chance you can do a duplicate two-tone for my bus: Sea Blue/Cumulus White? They of course have a smaller font on a second line for the secondary color.

I've never seen the two-tone decal available aftermarket...

Stay away from foil paper that appears too reflective.

Regarding copying these stickers. I did some research on this when I restored a motorcycle. I was told that you reproduce these stickers as long as they are NOT available from the manufacturer. You shouldn't have any problems as long as you tell people they are reproductions.

Yes, that is what my lawyer said. I am making a list of members' names and request for the first batch. The color name will be in German (unless requested otherwise in other languages). I have a German copywriter that can check for spelling error. This way I can add a more quality to be good reproduction.

I would be interested as well.

On high quality paper with a "silver" overlay. They were quite shiny, not just grey.

A pic from the gallery, mine pretty much looks the same. All lowercase letters accept for the paint code.

The label now w/ car (not on or in!) reads EXACTLY as follows (all caps & spacing): RUBIN L 456 (single space before and after L, all caps). BTW, dont kno if mine is just old/worn, but the metalized surface is dull or matte, not shiny whatsoever... maybe even a brushed finish.

I could use one for a 2-tone bus:

velvet green L 512 (lower color)

blue white L 289 (upper color)

If I remember right, it's

Samtgrün L 512

blau weiß L 289

I'd also like a Berylgrün L 478

Someone posted that it should have 2 Ls. But I can't confirm nor deny.
If anyone has on og one, I'd love to know for sure.

It seams to be pretty random whether they are in caps or lower case. The fonts changed a lot too.
I've seen white as "weiß" and also "weiss".
