Thanks man.
Got all the plumbing for the crossover and balance tubes hooked up. Just need to source a felt seal and retainer for the flywheel to pilot shaft, then the clutch will be ready to bolt up.

Stopped at the bike shop and picked up a junk punctured inner tube from a snow/sand bike (fat tires). I cut it into a couple sections with a straight edge and razor to make air cleaner elbow seals. Original factory ones are old, hardened with age, and have lost all elasticity. No stretch, no seal. These inner tube sections fit nice and tight like they would have originally been from the factory. Trick is to stretch them over the elbows, roll the ends back, slip the elbows on, then unroll the seals over the slip joint.

The one issue with using butyl rubber inner tubes for such purpose is that it doesn't take exposure to fresh air and UV light very well. But it will be good for a while. So if you can cover them with something else it would help them last longer. _________________ Richard

The good news is I have a whole inner tube left. When it wears out, I can just cut a couple new ones, and new junk tubes are cheap to free at bike shops. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

Store the leftovers in a black plastic bag, at least folded up, if not otherwise sealed and it will last longer in your garage. _________________ Richard

'Gummi Pflege Stift' Rubber Care Stick
Be careful what you say on here. This is a family oriented website!
In the late 1960s a guy I knew from sports car road racing went to Europe for a season to try his hand at F2 racing. He was sponsored by a German softdrink. "Pschitt". _________________ Richard

"That stuff is the pschitt!"
Gummi pfledge is amazing at keeping your window rubber seals looking brand new, so I wonder how it would work on those. _________________ Wash your hands

That would be a good question. I honestly don't know everything that goes into a pressure plate reman. Borg Warner remanufactured this one. _________________ 1800 Type 4 Berrien 295

They dis-assemble it, re-surface the plate itself, check all the springs and/or replace them all, inspect and /or replace all levers, inspect the cover stamping for cracks or out-of-spec on dimension, re-paint and re-assemble. If it's a diaphragm pressure plate, they replace the diaphragm. _________________ Richard

I got about $60 into this exhaust set up I cobbled together from various bits and pieces. Made from cut down factory heater boxes, 1/2in primary 4->1 collector, a 1-3/4in quiet pack exhaust tube bend, small triangle exhaust flange, and a swivel stinger. Just got to pop a couple dings out of the primary tubing, media blast the raw steel parts and nasty secondary tube, then get it coated high temp black. Chrome stinger is actually in good shape so I will leave that alone. I got a baffle welded to a supertrapp spark arrester that goes in the end of the stinger as well.

I'm going to have it sent out for coating. I don't feel like messing with that.
Anyways, this is where stuff is at right now. Looking like a real engine finally.
