In the bus hunting thread in the Split Bus section popped up this auction for two buses in a Long Beach warehouse. The auction was allegedly held last week and the buses sold. Now the site shows they might be available:

http://www.salvex.com/listings/listing_detail.cfm?aucID=182944598

Pictures from the auction site show they are pretty hacked up:

How do you even DO that?! That's one thing that is impressive about these columbian BDs. The owners have done things that in my mind would take more work than just fixing it right. Similar to the VW38 found a few years back with tons of mods and hacks over the decades. Anyway, that purple dash looks familiar somehow. Are these previously unknown?

The reserve was not met last time around.

The original auction did not have a reserve price they were sold for 9k- The buyer changed his mind after seeing updated photos of the buses. I would have to agree with him..those buses are tons of work and you can't even see the most important parts.

Man, I would love to have the blue one and drive it as is. Can't believe it's still riding on what looks to be 3 original 16" wheels.

I found the gray one a couple of years back, I wanted it for the deluxe dash, I offered the guy some money, but someone had already told him these buses were worth a furtune in the U.S. and Europe, the blue one I missed by about 4 days, it was located about 20 miles from my shop....glad I missed it Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing ....Sander sold those buses to some "lucky" U.S. owner, I think I know who he is......they need a TOTAL rebuild...... Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

probably.....there is no way of telling until you tear the bus up and inspect it real close....I once found a 54 S/C with a deluxe dash full of goodies, including a Telefunken radio..

Now the site says the bidding is closed with them being sold to someone in Texas for $9,300 on 11-8-11. Sounds like Gerson will be getting a call or two from the Lone Star State. Wink

Or more likely, they'll be flipped via the usual channels. Maybe if we're lucky the new owner will chime in and give us a full breakdown on them before anything like that happens...

DAMN!, were they hauling boulders on that spare tire shelf? Looks like it has a perfect dent the shape of the fan shroud in it.
