I was browsing a Natural History site this morning and was browsing their gallery pictures and saw this link included..."View Forum Posts That Include This Image."
Do you know of a BB automatic facility the will add this link to gallery posting Ev?
Just asking because I'm sure all regulars here will know how frustrating it can be to search the gallery for a detailed picture...find a scant title description and the detail "for the forum" and nothing more. Could save having to post a new topic when the problem has been addressed in an existing one.
For example: Scroll down below the picture for the link: http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/pictures/showphoto.php/photo/106287 _________________ John.

Unfortunately the links to images are not indexed because of the length (link is > 20 characters) and doing a "raw" search database for something like %123456.jpg% would be very time consuming.
So unfortunately, no, not at this time.
It would be possible, of course, to create a separate index whenever images are used in a post, load it with all the existing data, and then keep it up to date to allow searching but I'm not sure everything that would be involved in doing that. _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

Yes, it would be useful for all the users who don't enter a description and/or use "for the forums". _________________ How to: Post Photos | Search

Thanks for posting this... I was wondering the same thing.
I was going though some of my older pics and tried searching the pic-id #, but that found no results.
Is it OK to add a link in the description that takes you to the thread?
here is what I am referring to: LINK
I couldn't get the above BBcode to work in the gallery post, but it did link it when I just pasted the URL in the description
just want to make sure its OK to post like that. |

Yes, that is fine, I often post a link in the description if I am specifically posting something for the Forums.
Yes, you cannot use BBCode there.
Example description text:
blah, blah, blah, detailed description of what's in the photo, blah, blah
For Forums:
