Searched and didnt find a post, just wondering if anyone had any input on this new casting. Anyone know where they are produced?

Are they based on the stock casting like the ones Timms is using or are they an 044 knock off?

DRD gets the castings from AA Piston/AA Performance Products. And they are made in China. Check out 12/2010 Hot VW, there are pictures of this casting in that issue.

OK, made in china, design LOOKS good, anyone actually running them?

Since I have not purchased a HVWs mag in years due to bias and the same crappy articles year after year not to mention more ads than articles anyone care to share what they thought of them? Did they do any actual testing?

Just looked at the AA website and they dont even show any heads. Anyone have any more info?

According to Greg Tims, the chinese casting is similiar if not an identical casting to the mexican 043. Be the first one to buy the new series drd castings and let us know how they work out. Laughing

The above picture looks like ovaled ,ported heads to me not just enlarged.

2-L6 Heads

I looked them over and they look really good. Valves are seated nice, the chambers all look even, and the ports are smooth. I plan to CC them to make sure they are all even. The DRD298 cam should match well. All the parts so far look good. I did get a stage 2 pressure plate, I ordered a stage 1. No worries though. Everything is balanced. I will post more pictures once I start the build.

As far as Darren at DRD, I will give him my business in the future. His heads are looking good.

A side note, these are not 043 heads. They are powermaster heads or something like that. They still look really good.

Looks like a mix between an 044 and 043 casting. I also see an extra cooling fin!

The above pic I posted was from his site and was the CNC turbo head.

by splitter do you mean the "heart shape" like in the older publications and modern quick burn heads?

I like that the valve spring pocket bump is filled in the casting.

Chinese cylinder heads? Seriously?

Hell, why am I surprised; the rest of the engine is Chinese, so may as well put Chinese heads on it too. The only thing missing is a completely Chinese assembled engine. Thats performance defined.

I am not saying anything good or bad about the competition....that's not my schtick, but I am proud of my association with Mofoco for head castings that are American made. The Chinese heads make it hard to compete on price though.

I'd like to state that my comment was not directed toward anyone or any company... We are not in competition with any of the others mentioned; I simply have grown to dislike anything with a "Made in China" decal... Not because it's junk, or substandard but more because its Chinese.

Today we can't buy much of anything else, but that doesn't mean we have to like it. Thats all.
