j.goodspeed, that looks like a brand new car! Very nice build.
Outstanding craftsmanship and attention to detail on the wiring and electrical work. Well done indeed.
Looking forward to seeing more of this project _________________ -Bruce

I would love to know where you found the wire with the correct tracers? _________________ Tool junkie

It was not easy to find all the items necessary for this build. Fact is it took 12-14 weeks to source everything.
I purchased the final stock of the weco junction connectors and obtained a source for the correct german open barrel connectors.
Here is a link to these: http://www.goodspeedmotoring.com/electrical-connectors/
The tracer wiring was obtained from Rhode Island Wiring. http://www.riwire.com/ Use the supplies link on the left. Determine what you need and call them. Great people!!! |

I have been asked repeatedly about more information regarding my wiring build on my 67. I recently wrote an article that may help some of you in the VW community. Here is a link to the article: http://1967beetle.com/wiring/

Thank you so much Jeremy. Man what an outstanding job! I don't think there is work out there better than that. Just flat out amazing. That just floors me.
So, how much would it take to have you do mine!

This photo just kills me... It a right hand drive vehicle with the photo reversed. Very cool workmanship, but show it for what it is. |

j.goodsped, you wouldn't happen to have a schematic of your custom wiring would you?
I am reading up on basics of electrical work, learning everything I can to re wire my 67. The previous owner seemed to have had some pretty ugly work done that I am trying to fix. |

Actually it is just about identical to the factory wiring schematic. I wanted someone to be able to follow my changes without problem long after I'm gone . I did three main changes, I added brown ground wires to the taillights, license plate light and brought the headlamp grounds to the column for a better ground. I added a second power wire from the battery to operate the headlamp relays. This was to remove the largest amperage draw away from the headlamp switch about 70%, thus making my NOS switch last forever (parking lights, dash lights are still powered thru the HL switch. Lastly, I added high and low HL relays to eliminate brightening or dimming regardless of engine RPM.
Here is an excellent diagram courtesy of samba member crazyvwvanman
